This is by no means a steam action shot. It's an old family photo of my great grandfather Charles Rickle (engineer) posing in the fireman's seat of Erie consolidation #2100 in September of 1947, in Spring Valley NY on the NJ&NY branch.

A little early for July 4th, but I REALLY like this paint job, which is changing as I type, back to her true colors of SP Daylight. I have been fortunate enough to ride behind her twice in this configuration. And it's two days after Doyle's birthday! :D [IMG]

Since the Board is Back, we should celebrate with (what else?) STEAM. I know, I know, this is two years old, but it's one of my faves. 3751, 4960 and 18 at the south rim of the Grand Canyon, with El Tovar and the Grand Canyon depot in the background, railfans in the foreground. [IMG]

I guess it is my turn to jump into the fray... [IMG] I have very few steam shots, (other then a few static shots)...what I have were of SP 4449 either heading through LA on the way to the World's Fair in New Orleans back in 84 (?) and SP 4449 heading RR west (north) through Palmdale, Ca after celebrating LAUPT's anniversary festivities in 1989, which is what I have to show today.

This small engine can be found at the Rock of Ages Visitor Center in Graniteville, Vermont. This site is a HUGE granite quarry that opened in 1885 and is in the business of "Family and Civic Memorials" (e.g. Grave Stones, Mausoleums, etc.).

Given the DHVM itself contains nearly 300 Steam images plus more in my RailImages gallery I have just a touch more access to online photos than most other do. [IMG]

Hey guys, please keep this thread going so I can add whatever I may get on my trip to Minnesota to ride and chase CP 2816 and Milwaukee 261. Three days and counting... [IMG]

Someone asked about the piping for an Elesco feed-water heater, but I can't find that post. So I'll post these two photos and hope he sees these.

These old Ladies were known to "pick up their skirts" and fly with the Express runs on the Richmond, Fredricksberg & Potomac RR.

(I am partial to these high steppin' dog-faced heavy-chested old girls. They were not pretty, but they were certainly fast; often running at speeds in the high 80's and even 90's at times!)
