Jim caught this one on the fly. He almost missed it as it's kind of hidden. Think Fourth Of July for the town and Happy Cows for the State. A hint: Narrow gauge in a place you wouldn't think there had ever been a train. A once lush and prospering truck farming and goat herding community until a Southern California, scrawling suburbia bought up all the water rights. Now a desolate desert with a small oasis. Where is Jim157 - RailImages.com From the side door pullman: I was going to back off and discontinue this or at least... Jim could continue it on his own, due to the lack of participation. What I noted was the hits this was taking, up almost 100 since last Thursday. Telling me that there are a good number of you tuning in but just not participating. I will continue the fun as long as the readership continues. So relax and enjoy and feel free to jump in.
This is for you "S" Scale fans. American Flyer? One more from the same Happy Cow state. Where is Jim157 - RailImages.com
Who is Charlie and how can we find him? Grin! I thought you were Charlie. I've heard others refer to you as Charlie. So who are you? I mean Charlie, can't be a bad nick...right? Unless, you don't like it. It would be nice to have a name to go with the infamous handle of Boxcab E50.
Ken, I hate to screw up. OOP's! To my embarrassment...gosh...my apologies. Humm, Boxcab and E-8 don't even rhyme. Must be a senior moment. Still, thanks for bring this to my attention. Someone out there was getting a good laugh...at my expense. Grin! LOL
Moving right along. Here is a people mover to one of the most famous of spots in the South West. Think steamers running on cooking oil and a name train from the past that had the initials of GCL. Where is Jim157 - RailImages.com
Guilty as charged for looking and not participating. You leave good clues, Rick, which would lead me to identify your first of the day as Independence, CA, where the water is stolen by SoCal. Narrow Gauge 4-6-0 18. I used to pass her enroute to skiing at Mammoth Mountain. :tb-biggrin: And the peanut oil burning place is Williams, AZ, home of the Grand Canyon Railway.
Rick they r getting real good at guessing where the pics r taken at. have to leave the house first thing in the morning will get u some pics....
Jim aka Fitz, (I hope I got that right) You are absolutely, 100% right on the money on both accounts. I didn't think anyone would pick up on Independence, CA. I expected some to say Owens or Owenyo. Independence is correct. Peanut oil, can you imagine operating steam engines on peanut oil. I'd of never thought but they are doing it. I wonder if that smells like peanuts or french fries? Thanks for playing.
On the road again. Jim, I will look forward to the pic's and will share them here. Don't forget to check in on us and post a few to keep me guessing....grin! err:
Its the WMAX but between Jerome and Wendell, ID. Well back to the grind tomorrow. Hard to answer on here without using text abb....
As Wendell and Jerome are named, it's on the old UP branch that ran from Rupert to Wendell and this is the Eastern Idaho Railroad. WAMX is a WatCo reporting mark, the owners of EIRR. Boxcab E50
Now I have a better understanding. Well, I do. But the locomotive certainly resembles the Apache Railroad paint scheme or is that like the Cherokee Southern? The Cherokee Southern is a model railroad I built for a professional clown. I suspect it can also be said of the Apache. Unless, someone out there can varify there is such railroad.
