    Russell,
Is that 7th stock car by any chance a Bachmann? I got a couple stock cars and my Bachmann is slightly larger than the rest, just like that one appears to be.

That started out as a Micro Ace 4-6-2. I shortened the chassis and moved the motor back into an old Atlas tender using a drive shaft. The boiler is pretty much a stock Bachmann 2-8-0 shell.

That is an old Atlas Roco stock car. Atlas sold two slightly different versions of that car. Very small changes like on the side ladders and a door latch missing on the second version. I have the same car produced much later that just says Hong Kong on the bottom. I don't know who sold that, maybe Bachmann. The Life Like stock car is still smaller. Then there was another Atlas stock car that was 50 foot but otherwise similar detail to the 40 foot Roco car.

Well gents I bought my first Mopac engine recently. A SD50, no number and UP-ish paint scheme. I got it for $49.00. BTW Is that a good price for the engine (NIB)?

After seeing all the great photos here I had to get me a MOPAC engine or two or three… (Let me not get ahead of myself).

Here it is pulling a 40 car train yesterday on our club layout at a train show. I put the flat cars and cattle cars right behind it because someone accused me of hiding a diesel mechanism under a box car shell to help pull. :D

    </font>[/QUOTE]nicely done!
I 've been seeing small micro ace steamers pulling very long trains.
I was considering a new bachmann spectrum 2-8-0 for $60, but there is a micro ace 2-8-0 that looks very American as it is. just needs a different tender and some treaks. it wodul surly pull much more than the bachmann.
btw, I see micro ace locos that looks very much like some locos labeled kato & tomix. I know all three are japan made brands, but I almost wonder if the share and relabel their brands?
I saw the D51 which I have seen listed on ebay as micro ace, but at a local hobby store it was in a kato box with japanese style box design still called a D51 adn looks the same.
some of the microace look like the tomix, just slight cosmetic differences.

I just noticed this thread dedicated to Mopac and had to see what was going on in N scale.

This has to be the longest thread on this site.

I can't believe the eyesite you guys must have to turn out the quality of work I see here [IMG] Great job all of you.

Paul: I'm glad to see the MoP is alive and well down under. BTW you don't have to have a coal train to run SD40-2C's as I have seen them run through Dallas on merchandise and TOFC trains in the late 70's.

    Keep up the "great" work.

    Kozmo,
looking at the steamers that I have from each of the brands that you mentioned they probably share some parts but one thing that distinguishes MicroAce from the rest is the detailing.

Here's a closer look at the details on the MicroAce 0-6-6-0.
The details are almost like those of the brass steamers

This is I think the second or 3rd longest thread. By the way I have an article about modern MoPac locomotives in the next edition of NSR
