Thanks, Gary. I talked to Kel and suggested he add these to his lineup. Paint shop is next. BLMA #11 cut levers installed. Front Rear
WOW! I tried BLMA cut levers onece before.... I ran out of patience ith the little cut lever lift rings... I ended up gluing the levers on solidly....
Mounting the first one was definitely an exercise in patience and restraint. It took a couple of hours and walking away a few times. Just figuring out the easiest way to do it was a pain. I did the second one in 10 minutes. The way that I figured out that was the easiest way for me to do it was to: 1. drill all four holes. 2. use two of the long mounting rings and slip them on the cut lever first . MT coupler springs have nothing on these little boogers. 3. put some CA on the little posts on the mounting rings and just line those two up and stick them in the two center holes. 4. align the rings and let the glue set up. 5. take a break while the glue sets. 6. take a short ring and slip it on the cut lever. 7. use a toothpick or straight pin to apply glue in the hole or to the post on the mounting ring. 8. stick in in the outside mounting hole. 9. repeat for the other side. 10. align mounting rings. 11. take a break while the glue sets up. 12. bend/tweak the cut lever and mounting rings for proper alignment. 13. Trim/file back side of mounting posts where they go through by the steps. That is the easiest way I could figure out how to mount these things.
Tad, I recall reading a post written by Craig Martyn, (BLMA owner) he suggested gluing the rings onto the bar first then use it to mark the hole locations on the shell before drilling. His reasoning was if the holes didn't quite line up you could tweak the lugs on the rings until they all fit in the holes. I have tried this with HO bars using the formed metal lift rings, ( I can destroy the plastic rings they come with slicker than sh.... well you know!) Doing it this way worked pretty good for me in HO, I'm too chickin' to try it in N. I just glue em' on like Hemi said. 2slim
Maybe not a model project - yet!! Figure Paul, or you other MoPac folks will have a model to show off shortly! Apologies for the not-so-good photo! Shot out the front windshield of truck. Didn't feel like getting out!
Thanks for the info, Tad!! The Screaming Eagle shows up in the most out of the way places.... Just west of Tunnel1, this was bring up the rear of WB MNYRO:
Paul, Yes, a recent photo. Dec 26, 2005 Had nothing to do that day, so I made a photo trip to Denver, to see what kind of "stuff" I could find!
Microscale has decals for a trailer like that. 60-346 Missouri Pacific (MP) Trailer - 40' N Scale Decal Sheet 1970-80 I think I may have to get a set and paint and decal an undecorated 40' Atlas trailer I have.
Ye gods, what an ugly color for a caboose! Gives a different meaning to the word "crummy", doesn't it?
Paul, I have it painted. I am working on final detailing and decaling now. I should have it finished by the end of this weekend.
Hey Tad; Have you finished the Mop GP-18 yet? I looked at the pictures on you Railimage site, it looks very interesting. Can't wait to see it in Jenks Blue. Keep on modelling MoPac MOPHEAD
Russ; "NOW THAT'S WHAT I"M TALKIN ABOUT" Beauti of a shot. Love those blue and greys. Keep on modeling MoPac MOPHEAD
Yes, just yesterday. I bought my wife a digital camera for her birthday and so far, I am using it more than she is. I set my "outdoor" photo diarama up inside with a backdrop off one of my NTRAK modules to play around a bit.
The IGN ran through beef country so they had to haul a bit of it on the hoof every now and then. They used small steam like this 4-6-0 on the light rail of the branch lines where they picked up stock cars. ZOOM
