I remember those days, hearing and reading the end was near. Wishing I could somehow find a way to get there and ride. Oh well :(

I'd of ridden the last of the Zephyr, a Summer Train or even the Ski Train, if only it would of been possible. As it is that last time the Zephyr ran I and my family were on the way to my brother-in-laws funeral...uhh...err....wedding. I knew it was due to arrive any minute but so did mother nature and I had to answer the call. Missed it and almost messed it. Thanks to the smelly outhouse, my aroma was no different.

White Pass and Yukon Railroads. Nice find.

Correction FP9. Nothing like a finger misfire.

The Durango & Silverton Railroad & more. If you haven't had the opportunity to get out and ride these trains and railfan them from every perspective you can think of. It's time. I think you will like this next video!

Wait for it...wait for it...don't be confused by the opener.

The only problem with this topic is going looking for something cool to post, then getting lost on YT, watching all the really neat RR vids. Yikes. Time flies!

    LOL Very True!

Now you know. My secret is out. Look at all the fun I'm having. No problem with you doing the same thing and then bring to us something you feel is worth seeing. Usually, at the end of each video You Tube, pops up some teasers for other video's.

East side of the Rockies, but still plenty west. I am no fan of the BN, but when compared with today do miss their earlier years. This video I really like, as the videographer got great sound. Some really thumping EMD and GE units.

I couldn't pass on this one.

Almost as good as having a "Back to the future" time machine.

Tehachapi Pass when cabooses, way cars, hacks, crummies still plyed the rails.

I was looking for anything on this particular segment of track. At Foss River, (west slope of Stevens Pass, WA), there is a 180 in the track. Very interesting to ride, as you can tell when going both directions through it. For me, especially westward/down hill. After a few moments, feels like you are going around and around. This doesn't really show the half loop, and is a train eastward/up hill.

    Ken,

Good capture! Yes, that was quick. I think that wins the short video award. Nice mix of foreign power on the point.

I played it twice so it would feel longer. LOL

    How about?

Ken, The Lion Hearted and of course everyone else tuned in here,

This has been fun. I will be pulling up on the brake lever and bring this train into the station. This will be it from me for awhile. However, the fun need not stop and you guys can continue video rail fanning.

Not to confuse but there are two rail fan threads ongoing here. One is for rail fanning the one to one foot scale (this one) while the other is Railfanning For Railfannings Sake (Ok the title is misgiving but I liked it) which is railfanning anything and everything, that is less then the real deal.

    Signing off for now.

    Have fun!

    All is cool.

I need time to work on my model railroad. We have short summers and long winters here on this mountain top. Since my railroad is outside in a tin shed with little or no insulation. Temperatures can drop into the teens and it's been colder this year, then usual. The local's will tell you along with the Farmer's Almanac, this is part of a cycle, most pointing to a ten or twelve year cycle. Nothing new going on.

For me, I need to use the summer month's to blitz the layout and to get some much needed work done. However, the fun need not stop and I will check in to see or view the video's you submit.

    Keep the trains rolling.

OK. Well, keep the topic bookmarked.

I, too, need to get busy at the workbench. Weather not being a worry, it's just that it's too easy to get distracted by computers, and.....

All of a sudden I have time on my hands and nothing to do.

Here is a video that best reminds me of the Santa Fe, I knew...back when. Although, I'm not sure exactly how some of the music fits in. Keep in mind these homemade films didn't have sound on many of the early movie camera's.

Here's a sampling of the railroad I rail fanned in my youth.

Did you see some things you didn't expect. So, did I.

I've watched some of the Bob Chester films on YT. Some great stuff.

I always hope any person filming has panned the passing train, so to see the rolling stock. So many old railroad names. And before we started allowing gutterslime to trash stuff with their paint cans.

I wish this trip was still possible. Is there even any passenger service on this line today?

I don't know Ken. Wishing, hoping there was or is a historical group who had a chance to buy the ROW with plans to run these dayliners.

Stourbridge, nice find. I really enjoy seeing the old mother hen's back up and running.
