How would you like to post your favorite videos of railfanning anywhere West?

To get us started here is a video as taken by Zachary Larsen, April of 2014. Unlike many other's who have captured chatter, cussing, a camera clicking off stills his video are almost nonchalant. He does shoot a recent event but does it in perspective with overall railroad traffic and operations of the day. I almost went to sleep watching it. No it's not boring but it is a long video, with long trains and a few surprises tossed in.

If you thought mid-train helpers on Union Pacific Trains is dead...well...you might be in for a surprise. Do note how long some of these trains are. I do like the way he shoots the train equipment. I have a feeling Zachary L.'s videos will be in demand in the not so distant future by model railroaders who want to know what equipment was tied in behind the locomotives in 2014.

Oop's lost the address for the video, I will be right back. Found it: So let's get started~!

You might want to bump the quality of the picture up to HD. Seems most of us that use You Tube have problems with the quality on submission of our videos.

    Enjoy!

Ken and of course everyone tuned in,

To answer your question Yes. The videos don't have to be your own and if they don't embed then links would work.

No particular time frame is required but you might want to mention it when you post.

    Are we good?

Looking forward to viewing them. You know if this works out we can start various threads on Railfanning Anywhere North, South, East, East Coast, Mid-west, Canada, Mexico. Help yourself.

Here is one you might like.

There wouldn't be a hidden agenda or message in this video....do you think. :teeth:

Another UP Big Boy Move - A What?

I pondered over how best to use this video. I thought about adding it to the current move of #4014 and see how many would get it. Naw!

#4014 wasn't the only Big Boy being moved. Check this out.

Here's the move as seen from the cab.

Some major screwing around going on! LOL[IMG]

Tip of the day. When you go to watch one of these videos and the picture comes through blurred. Bump the quality up to 360 or 480. Some of the videos shared here are in HD so don't be afraid to bump them up. There seems to be a lot of buffering going-on when I watch the videos. Enough so this ADD type of character will fall asleep. Not sure how to improve or correct that.

One thing I did to was switch from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox. Appears to be a big difference in overall performance.

If it ain't fun, feels like a job, it ain't worth doing or in this case watching.

Jump right in and share your still's uhh...err... photo's of trains - that is, slide shows and or favorite videos.

If only these days traffic levels here were of more frequent movements. I wish I could go back in time, to when it was NP! The branch was in service, (track at left side at the video beginning), and there were numerous freights, plus multiple passenger trains daily.

I'm going to have to go back to the tutorial on imbedding video here. Forgot how.

    Jim-

There is a little icon above the message box, which looks like a couple of film frames. Click on that, and paste in your video URL.

Or you can use the HTML manually. Just bracket the URL with: [ v i d e o ] [ / v i d e o ] REMOVE all of the spaces. I had to add spaces, otherwise the program reads it and tries to insert what amounts to a nothing space.

OK. I don't have any of my videos on a URL anywhere, including my own website. I know I have imbedded one or two in the past. They are resident in my hard drive, but not out on the net.

Hmmm. Well, then what I have described above will not work. I've never uploaded a video from my own computer. I did have a very brief one, about a minute and a half, on my web site a coupel of years ago. But it was shown here via link, rather than embed.

Better to go to You Tube, upload your video and then you won't have any problems imbedding them here.

Ready for another of Zachary Larson's video's. I think you will like this. He captures the flyover in Colton, Ca. with Union Pacific freight train crossing over the top. Then he catches the San Diego Turn and some other interesting shots as well.

Ken and of course everyone tuned in here,

I enjoyed the video you submitted...a rare catch even in today's world.

Responding with religious furor, Amen Brother.

It's not the same out there anymore and the memories I carry in my memory banks can't be accessed. I don't have a way to plug them in and share them with you. So, I have to resort to researching video archives looking for pictures and movies of a time long past.

The idea here is to capture yesterday, through the eyes of those who recorded it. Today, through our own videos and photos. It's not living in the past....it's remembering what the past meant to so many of us. Of course living in the present...well...I think you get my drift.

I've rambled about this previously. *BIG Sigh*! My memories wouldn't be fabulous to most folks, but they're precious to me. MILW electrics, GN, NP, UP steam. Colorful passenger trains. Rayonier logging (Mallets and Shays) steam. Depots and other structures. MILW rail barges floating past and their famous isolated Olympic Peninsula operations. F units and big UP diesels such as the DD35, DD40. And... So, once again I lament: Where is the time machine? Oh well. Rats!

I think I may have found that time machine. CoasterFan2105 has a number of interesting videos and the captures here are amazing.

The only problem with any and all of these videos is the constant buffering. Is anyone else having the same problem and if so how did you solve it? This is as bad as attempting to run trains with DCC. Not grinning.:frustrated:

One thing that seems to help you can click on You Tube and that takes you to the OP's original post. The pictures seem to improve but the buffering is just a constant interruption.

    Rick-

What operating system are you using? What browser? What speed is your connection? Or least what are you paying for, which you might not be receiving? Somewhere between these, may be the headaches.

Here is a BIG batch of childhood memories for me. I have been to all of these places, most of them many, many times. Their original line through Renton, past the Boeing plant vicinity was removed many years ago, for a different route via Pacific Coast RR to access the "Belt Line". I've been out on the bridge across the Snohomish River. (I have one of the Snohomish depot signs.) The Stillaguamish River bridge, (we Puget Sound natives call that River the "Stilly"), is only a few miles down stream from where the recent tragic Oso mud slide occurred. The depot and out building paint schemes so very familiar, and so badly missed. The Sumas border crossing, back in days when we could cross at will and with such complete ease.
