    Mitch,

I am so impressed the added details look fantastic.

What colour will the railings be? I gather they will be white?

Those are looking excellent with the added details. I intend doing that with all my locomotives when I get the time! I have a ton of detail parts in stock ready [IMG] The grabs/steps really make a difference, also the lift rings (must check if I have any of those in stock).

Mitch, what make(s) of detail parts do you use?

I can sense Paul's excitement as the locomotives progress :D

paul the handrails will be blue with the ends vertical rails being white. alan i use jnj trains 15" drop grab irons, gold medal models loco detailing set which incldes the sunshades, windshield wipers, and the lift rings, as for the bells they are sunrise and the beacon for the top will be a deluxe innovations. needdless to say my local shop gets an order of parts in for me about 1 time a month. now if i could only find a decent supply for atlas parts other than their catalog.

matt i use chameleon stripper for them, i have it in liquid and gel form, it is available through walthers. i had a hard time with this bnsf paint for some reason, usually will clean them right off but didn't like taking this green off for some reason. it also works great for just removing numbers from cabs or the long hood, if applied for a very short time it won't harm the paint job. got more coming later of the blue applied.

Gee Mitch some people can be so inconsiderate can't they lol. Was really looking forward to seeing the progress but an extra day won't hurt. I even showed my wife and kids last night the progress and they love it as well.

    Mitch,

They look awesome I noticed the horns have been removed what colour will they be?

Did we agree to put the large eagle down the side? I think we did but can't remember.

I'm really looking forward to getting them back and showing some pics on my layout.

Also Mitch will you be spraying the locos with dullcote to seal the decals?

clolonel the horns are blue and yes it will have the large eagle on the side. once the decalling is done they will be sprayed with dullcote for the finish. firscobob i use polly s csx blue with just a hint of black added, it is almost a perfect match to the accuflex mopac blue. hey ed i do like the vomit bonnet but i just can't bring myself to paint that God forsaken bnsf junk. just kidding, you got's a checkbook, i got paint! Mopac:

Any reason for the choice of paint? I ask 'cause I've always liked the ModelFlex MoPac blue (even though they don't call it Jenks). I'm real impressed with the uncoupling lever, I tried those on an SD80 and had a devil of a time lining it all up, even now one doesn't quite lie flat.

eagle2 the biggest reason for the choice of paint is none of the local shops around here will get modelflex in anymore due to the bad runs they had a few years ago, heck they won't even special order it, and i have had some bad experiences with it, mainly the clear flat is the worst flat i have used, and if you try spraying polly s over it instead, you may as well strip it and start over. i also get a smoother finish from polly s, badger had a grainy finish when i had some that worked. also the coupler cut levers are actually the molded kato ones just with paint on them. i tried to make my own at one time and finally gave up, i need to get some of the blma's sometime and try them. also colonel i won't be posting anymore updates until at least monday, i have a show this weekend and my yard modules need some tweeking for it, i did get some decalling started though.
