Really nice work, Mitch, the units are looking very sweet. I'm a bit of a closet admirer of MP.

Whose beacons are you using? Look like the old Loco-Motives type.

Mitch, what is you method for stripping off the cab numbers with chameleon stripper? I have been trying to find away to change a few Santa Fe -9s into BNSF.

    Mitch,

Thinking about the numbers for the locomotives Would 6064 and 6057 be ok? as 64 and 57 are the years myself and my wife were born :D

Light strokes with stripper and a q-tip is what i use to remove lettering.Mitch showed me how to do it.You can see what is comming off by the color of the cotton on the q-tip.You will loose a little of the silver but it shouldn't go all the way through.Trial and error is the best way to learn this.

clint the answer to your question is yes, that is the only reason the mopac bought units with dynamic brakes so they could run through on the bn the coal fields. and no bnsf colors are gross, looks like someone slaughtered a pumpkin on halloween [IMG] , so don't ask if you can borrow any of mine [IMG] not gonna happen, i will get pics up in awhile of how i did the class and head lights.

Hey Mitch....how about when you ship them back you just send them to me. I'm sure Colonel won't mind. While looking at the pictures I decided that a couple of those would look good rolling around my layout....

All I can say to that is NO WAY lol those beauties are headed to Australia.

Mitch has done a fantastic job and i'm really looking forward to having them back on the layout. They will be the pride of the fleet and going straight back into service.

OK what you all need to do is look at the finished pics above.Do you see the little ringlets on the top of the engine? While boastfully I can say I have already seen these engines the other night [IMG] ,Those little rings are detail parts Mitch adds to the units [IMG] .The pics look neat but the engines look neater in real life.Colnel YOU will be all the envy of Austrailia with these units [IMG] !

ok here are some pics of the fiber optic soon to be installed and after. i forgot to mention that there is alot of trial and error when trying to make headlights nand such from this wire, the ends are formed by placing the wire next to a heat source causing a lens shape to form, it is easy to use alot of this wire when trying to make these lenses if not careful. [IMG] [IMG]
these are the class lights and new nose headlight it will be installed in. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
and this is the area of the small amount of filing needed on the frame for the wire to slide between the frame and shell.
