Don't worry, there are enough of us with extra throttles, that we could find you one if you are even in town! Just send me an email ahead of time, that is, if you wanted to come to an operating session!
It is great to have so many guys to operate with. The other good thing is, everyone uses DigiTrax, so they all bring thier own throttles over and everyone already knows how run everything! </font>[/QUOTE]All I can say about your layout is ,How's the beer in Canada?
I just added an auto compound to Field, to put all of those auto decks to use. Now the auto carriers will be set off in Field, and switched out. I made it so the parking lot is off the layout, due to the lack of N scale automobiles, and also so I don't have to buy 100's of them! I'll try to post some pictures of what I have done so far today.
Cool news Mike, I'd like to see what you have done as I am working on the design of my autorack unloading facility. Besides, how many Ford F150s and Taurus's would I need for a parking lot? Besides, it would really date the layout to a specifc year (mid 90s?) I think I like the "off layout" idea.
Ok, here are a few pictures. I don't have it all finished yet, I still have to cut in the switch to get into 'N' yard. But here is what I have so far. From far far away! I was going to cut the switch into the mainline, but instead, I will tie it into 'N' yard. That way, the auto facility will have it's own lead, it will take a bit longer to get there to pull and spot, so I might have to add another yard switcher! The auto facility lead is going to come off N6. A bit closer... And a view from a bit closer to the ground. There is enough room for 10 auto decks, with a large roadway between them, (for unloading) I made it similar to the auto facility here is Calgary, but not as big. I didn't realize until I started working for the railway, that for unloading these things, you need to seperate them so they can be unloaded. Bi levels facing west, Tri levels facing east, Tri levels facing west, and so on. This will be farily prototypical, because there will be 4 groups of cars. I think I will use the spackle idea for the ashphalt in the parking lot and for the roadway.
While I was in the industrial mood, I changed the north side too. There will be another 4 industries in this 'blank' area soon! You can just see the switch to the new area at the bottom left.
The tunnels are lighted, but I turned the lights out for this picture. It is a 16 second exposure, at f11.
Here is a picture of an eastbound grain train with an AC4400 and SD90 on the head end, just coming out if the lower tunnel. The sun is going down, so I was running out of light! [ June 30, 2005, 09:18 PM: Message edited by: Mike Hagarty ]
Looking Nice Mike!!! What are you going to do for a loader / unloader????? [ June 30, 2005, 10:00 PM: Message edited by: up mike ]
up mike, I don't know if anyone makes one of those unloading ramps. I might have to scratch build one.
As of now nobody makes them, so when you make your's make two and send one down Mike can you get some up and close pic's???? I can't get into any yard's down here
Sure, the next time I work in the auto compound, I'll try to bring my camera and get a few good pictures.
