I do have a 3 year old, so most of my 'train time' is after she has gone to bed! I wish I had a time shifter thing, maybe the layout would be finished by now! -Joe, I'm going to draw a new track plan and post it. The old one I have is no good anymore, because so much has changed scine I drew that one!
Looks real good Mike. You know, they sell "tankless" water heaters, so you can remove the one you have!
I told my wife about them, I might have to look into that option! They are WAY more energy efficient too, not to mention I'd get a bit more real estate!
A tankless water heater is high on my list. It will allow configuring the laundry room for greater storage area. More junk stuffed in there, gives me greater available space elsewhere, for the future empire! Boxcab E50
The layout never stops being amazing Mike, thanks for sharing. I only hope I'm able to secure myself a basement someday too, *sigh*.
I had an operating session last week, with a total of 9 people, and I think everything went great. No derailments, and no real bottle necks, I could have used 1 more yard switcher crew in Field, the one that was there was very busy all night long. There was: 1 yard switcher at Field, 1 switcher at the paper mill, 1 road switcher from Golden, 2 passenger trains that ran back and forth all night long, 4 manifest trains that terminated and originated at Field, and 2 run through grain trains. I think 10 would be the maximum amount of people I could have operating the layout, plus the RTC, (me!) Any more, and someone would be sitting in a siding for a while, as it was, I don't think anyone sat for longer than a couple of minutes.
I'm not sure which part I'm more envious of.... a layout big enought to suport 9 opperators or 9 friends to run trains with!
It is great to have so many guys to operate with. The other good thing is, everyone uses DigiTrax, so they all bring thier own throttles over and everyone already knows how run everything!
