Mike: The results look great. You do need plenty of trees to complete the scenery. Stay cool and run steam.....
I got some more industrial area track laid last night. Here are a few pictures... The first one is the East Field Industrial lead coming off track N6, (the far left track) And a bit farther down the lead... Here is the Auto compuond on the right, it can hold up to 14 auto decks. This is the start of 'the park', or the East Field Industrial park. It starts with a run around track. This is the first 2 spurs, a track to load scrap metal on the left and another one that gets box cars on the right. Here is the rest of 'the park', I think everything at the end will be the plywood mill, with a track for tank cars, woodchip loading and a place to load plywood onto center beam flats. Here is a shot looking back at the new area. Another thing I did was to use medium switches on the entire area, now on the timetable, 6 axle units are prohibited from the East Field Industrial area. (adds a bit more intrest and planning durring an op session!) I did add a few more industries to the north side of the mainline too. Now there are a total of 5 industries on the north side. It will take some planning durring an op session to not block the main while switching these industries out, but that is part of the fun! .... never ceases to amaze me. Really starting to flesh out. Boy how I'd like to come play at your house!
Your layout looks awesome. I commend your steady and controlled progress on your layout. So...........when are you going to invite everyone from TrainBoard for an Op Session.
What a great layout! Great pictures, too. I think that expanding foam is fine. Never tried it, though. I think the rock experiment would be interesting.
If anyone is ever going to be in the area, send me an email, I'd love to have some guys from the forum come by for an op session!!!
I plan on doing a trip to Calgary, to hopefully visit yours, and Grant's layouts...... Expanding foam is tough stuff, eh? I tried it once--made a mess!
-HemiAdda2d, just send me an email when you plan on coming up here and Grant and I will try to set up an op session! -I laid the West Field Industrial tracks last night, not much going on there, 2 industries and a 3 track car repair shop. (As you can see, they will be busy!) Now I don't have to use one of the yard tracks to hold all of the bad order cars! [ October 28, 2005, 04:39 PM: Message edited by: Mike Hagarty ]
Here are the pictures of the new train on the Laggan sub, the California Zephyer with 3 PA's (A-B-A). Thanks David. It will be the new priority train durring an op session.
Gorgeous!!!! With the exception of the open meadows, that shot could have been taken on the Moffat Route in Colorado!
