I just punched up Guy, Texas on my map finder and it is right here in South Texas, twenty miles on the other side of the Brazos from where I live. I don't think they are coming back this way. Heading out of Amarillo the only towns I can find are Channing and Hartly.
There's apparently a Guy, Texas just northwest of Dalhart. I downloaded a pdf map of BNSF's Powder River operating division and it shows up there. It is denoted as MP 434.5. Could not find it on Teraserver. However I followed the line up into New Mexico and wow, once the train gets through Folsom it goes through some rugged country to get up into Colorado. I guess it is still much easier than Raton. Topo Map
Wow...that line is kinda curvy, ain't it? Didn't someone say that the Schnabel can't negotiate any curve less than 48" in N-Scale?
Here is the Division Map for that part of the BNSF. You have to scroll down to the bottom and zoom way in.
When train gets to Trinidad, it will track NE to La Junta before heading back toward Pueblo then North to Denver.
Oh great............... Get to miss the train because I'm either setting up at GATS on Friday, for the weekend show Saturday and Sunday. If not accepted for Gats this month, then I'll be setting up a small N Scale display for the boy scout show on Saturday, at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont. Although, the scout show is not an absolute requirement, so I may still take the time out and make the run south yet! Just gotta keep up on the progress as the next few days pass by.
Well, if that specific car were built to scale in N, the layout it runs on would need WIIIIIIDE curves to be able to negotiate. With 18 axles, and I dunno if there is any articulation, there's one curve-killer!
Hard to say at this point. With having to dodge all the coal trains coming down the joint and squeeling its wheels up old C&S line from Folsom, NM to the Colorado boarder, it is anyone's guess. If it takes another day off and just sits in a yard like it did in Amarillo, that will add time too. I got a location report from 4-7-05 that it did go through Dalhart around 3 PM so should have made the siding at Guy yesterday.
If I could just figure out how to change the direction of that arrow. Yes, how forgetful can we be? How embarrassing? Welcome and thanks for all the information. We need someone with and "inside" to keep up with that load these days.
It is now in Colorado. Report this morning has it sitting in Branson so they got it up through the pass from Folsom yesterday. Depending on traffic and all the other factors, they may even make it to La Junta today.
Local weather reports a FOOT+ of Snow heading for Denver on Sunday plus I have other things I have to do SUnday as well. Maybe it will slow down and come in Monday...
BNSF has committed to a Denver ETA of Friday April 14. I am with the Suncor Energy project team for this reactor load. Will be delivered to the Suncor Denver Refinery at Commerce City. Offloading will occur along Brighton Blvd over the weekend (Apr 16 & 17) by a 1200 ton Transi-lift crane.
Thats good to hear that it will still be a few days but why do you think it will still be another five (5) days before they get into Denver given their current location?
Much of the remaining travel is single track and coal trains will be given space. But this is a full week or more ahead of original estimated ETA.
Depending on how long the truck takes - oil change/tire rotate, I MIGHT be able to catch it south of Denver yet, for a few photos. Then still get back the the stock show complaex to set up for GATS!! Gonna be a busy weekend!Hope to catch up with someone, either chasing the train, or at GATS.
