Heads up Denver. This thing is heading your way. We talked to a crew in Rosenberg on Thursday who were checking the track for a VERY large heavy load coming soon. I found out what it must be at the Port of Houston website.

Keith might be interested, seeing as he's got a Schnabel model, and I think the refinery's not too far from him.

(From the headline I thought it was you coming to Denver, Russell! [IMG] )

I'd definately be interested in catching it!!
But.....Does anyone know when this thing is due to be delivered?
I suspect it'll be coming up from the south, but what route?

I think, for me to catch it, it would require taking a day off work, depending on delivery date. Would also require a LONG drive south of Denver to catch up with it, again, depending on what route it goes.

Yeah, I have the OMI Westinghouse car. 11 1/4 inches long, weighs 7oz and doesn't roll worth a darn! Impressive looking model though. Would LOVE to see one in person! However, probably not able to this time. :(

As for the refinery, that a good 45 minute drive SE of Longmont. And that's if the traffic is flowing good!!

So far no luck on finding out when it will move. Here is an illustration of how it will look. The bottom car is like the one they will use.

So is it coming up along the joint line?

The airplane train usually flys through here on weekends, so I suspect this will do a weekend run as well.

My guess is that it will move up the BNSF through Fort Worth and then over on the old D&FW through Amarillo, Pueblo and up the Joint Line. So far, everyone I have talked to either knows nothing or is not talking. :(

Anyone have any news on this train? Looks like the snow is letting up so it may be good photogaphy weather today or tomorrow...

OK, this is what was supposed to leave North Yard Port Terminal Rail Yard for the South Yard on the BNSF and
take the ex-Santa Fe line "Galveston Subdivision" to Temple & Ft
Worth, via Alvin, Roseburg, Bellville, Brenham, etc.

This train will have the new BNSF engine with the new logo, etc.
    Cars are:
    KRL 89121 tool car
    KRL 70897 idler 1
    KRL 076 caboose 1
    CEBX 800 load
    KRL 70951 idler 2
    KRL 074 caboose 2.

Train restricted to 15 MPH. A long way to Denver.

I talked to a BNSF worker in a high railer checking track this morning in Rosenberg. He said it was supposed to tie up there tonight.

They made it as far as Alvin today. I was waiting in Thompsons, on the other side of the Brazos about 30 mile up the track until I heard them on the scanner say they were tieing up. I will try again tomorrow.

Hey guys, any news on this one yet? I was looking at the map, and at he rate they're moving I'm guessing Thursday or so for around FtWorth. That might be really optomistic and it may be Monday or Tuesday next week. Any comments?

They may be getting the hang of things and speeding up a bit now that they are out in open country without many major crossings or tight curves. I will try to keep up with where it is as long as I can. Here is an page I started with my photos. These first ones were taken with a cheep snap shot camera as I was shooting Extachrome in my good camera. When I get the slides back in a week or so I will scan them in.

They're parked for the night tonight (3-29-05 @ 2035 CST) in Belleville.

ANother alternate route has the train going up to Plainview & Lubbock, then north to AMarilla, bypassing the DFW Metromess altogether. Don't know how true this is, but I do know it's supposed to go thru Temple- prehaps within the next 2 days.

    Train symbol is J PTRDEN1
