Aha! Compact Flash as I guessed. :) Yeah, those are pretty old school but they still make them as many older DSLRs are still out there in use that uses Compact Flash. My old Nikon D300 uses CF cards and I still use that camera.

Certainly by today's standards they were not compact but back then they were the start of the art, used in $5,000 cameras. There was nothing smaller. Well, there was Sony's Memory Stick but not many (professional) cameras use them.

I would not get that as it's not a name brand and the fact that they use the same color scheme as Sandisk to catch those unsuspecting as well as directly using Sandisk's "Ultra II" moniker/branding, just raises too many red flags. I have given up getting memory cards from Amazon as 90% of them are counterfeits. Just look at who it's Sold By. Find the ones that are Shipped and Sold By Amazon for the genuine stuff.

But, if you have to buy CF cards, get them from here. Totally genuine. One of the biggest camera vendors in the US.

well, i took your advice and ordered a new chip from B&H. Should be here in a week or so. Thanks to all who helped with that. I hope to get another 10 years or so with this camera. The camera is in good shape. I have the battery on charge so i can use it right away. I also am adding a card reader to this computer. I have had mine for a few years and it worked but adding them to this board can be a trick!
I am taking a break from the layout till i get things back to "normal"!

Sounds like a good plan. I bought a Cannon PowerShot SX30is about 2010 if I remember right for around $400 discounted when it had just come out. Have taken literally thousands of pictures with it. It has also been on both sailboats on the ocean for over 10 months (not an ideal place to have a camera) and other lake trips. Worked well all that time but started to have a few inconsistent problems about a year ago.

Loved the camera so much and knew it well so instead of getting something else to replace it I bought another one off of eBay that looked as if it was never used for $80. Probably have shot over 1000 pictures already on it (all the ones I post plus a bunch more).

Enjoy keeping your camera and getting more use out of it.

When i first took a course on Photography back when i was in the service in 72. I have forgot much of what i had learned. I was using Konica, Had a t3 that didn't last but about 5 years and it died. It was a good camera but it proved to not be up on par with Nikon or even Minolta. I had a Minolta I can't remember the model right now. It finally died around 1997. I was using nothing but phone camera for awhile. I got tired of fiddling around with junk so i went and got the D70 Nikon extra lenses filters and a tripod and case. Its all still here and in usable shape. We rv'ed from 1997 to 2018. we traveled all over the country. We have been to Canada and Mexico and had a good time while there. The only state i haven't been to is Hawaii and we missed the trip to Alaska. I am from West Virginia and Coal Country at that. My brother is still there. Haven't been there since 2007. Anyway i took the tour at B&H on the You Tube and i sudden remembered going to that store for film and dark room supplys. It had been years since i had heard that name. It was about 2 streets away from my school. funny i had forgot that one. Anyway i will have the chip in a few days. Thanks again for all the help. Smoke

I got the first chip about two weeks ago. I couldn't get it to do anything. I reached out to B&H and we got another one to replace it and it formatted and showed how much room was on the chip. I took 4 pictures and then i tried to get them on the computer. I lost the 4 shots and it keeps asking format I have tried 6 or more times to format and it just looks at me stupid. I have found a camera shop here in town and am going to take it in after the holidays to have it checked out and hope fixed. If not, i would have to send it back to Nikon.
As for Christmas i got more than enough funds to get what i needed from Mike and Ebay. I got the controller for the coalmine. I got a fire tower and log cabin for the top of the mountain. So i got a good Christmas from the family. They find out what i am needing for the layout and when John comes out each October or around that time he see's the layout asks lots of questions and kinda has the things i need and he makes it happen. Deb has 6 boxes that came to her with all kinds of stuff she needs to make her arts and crafts items. The Ham is resting in the fridge and i hope its thawed by tomorrow morning. About the only saying is I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas And a great New Year!!

Just a update to let you know i have surgery on my left hand the 23rd. It hurts to use that hand and punching a digit at a time makes for a tired time. I haven't been able to do much of anything but watch tv and mike doing his newest layout. He started another one after the demo work so I can see stuff and try to keep up with whats happening. As for the camera i don't have anything right now to say. I know there is a shop local but i hate driving and deb don't drive. Anyway, i will be in a special cast for awhile. I was told not to handle anything heavy so i don't know how this will work out. I will let you know when i get around to working again. Smokey
