Jerry Great looking unit as usual. So what is next? Also, what kind of ballast are you using? I should be ballasting in the next month or so.
Yep, I'm curious, too. Looks really fine, I don't think it's Woodland Scenics stuff. Also, looks like the tie plates have been painted.
I used Flouquil 'Brass'. I thought it looked too 'gold' but firgure after it gets some road grime it should blend better. I actually think the Atlas color is probably closer to a 'copper' color. I don't have any 'copper' colored paints or I would try it.
My ballast is a mixture of Woodland scenics 'fine', which I thought was too big, and Highballs 'fine', which I thought was too small! LOL They were both a grey color, but not an identical match. Once I had done the regular ballasting, any area that looked uneven or needed more ballast got touched up with straight Highball ballast. This method was alot of extra work, and if I had to do it again, I would go with Arizona Rock and Mineral Ballast. I am using it on the ATSF Line, and it looks great and is easier to work with then Woodland Scenics. It holds alot better.
Went through my decal's and I am out of the SPSF decals, so, I got an order off and may start something else before they get here....or, maybe not. I have been wanting to do my three Amtrak F40PH's for some time too, but I don't have the money to get the Richmond Controls lighting yet.
You and me both! I thought they were going in the right direction with the Kato drive SD24/26's. Well, the good thing is you can still find nice models cheap on EBay and at shows.
Yes, it will save me from using my very dwendling supply! I love the 'L' Window Tunnel Motors, but in looking for a SPSF Merger picture on-line, it appears all the Kodachrome painted SD45T-2's had the windows removed. Thats alright though, I prefer the L Window, and it's not getting modified.
I think the only thing you havn't tackled yet is having open doors on the long hood and or cab. That brass model probably isn't the best model to try that on. Oh well, maybe the next one.
OK, finally got a better video of #6800... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRHrhLFWdp0"]YouTube - U25BE[/ame]
Looking at photos, I am going to go with a 9300 class Kodachrome. They added ground plane/sinclare antennas, air-conditioners, bell, some got rotory lights, and I think will be the most interesting to model. Decals arrived today, so work should start tomorrow.
Here's what I have done besides drilled the holes for lift rings and wipers. Added a BLMA air conditioner, Sunrise bell and air line, painted the rotory light, added antenna line, and number.
