Got one more. Would have took more but I took a short video and was shaking too bad from my meds. After 5 more trys for better photos, decided to hang it up for tonight! LOL
You can see what I mean here. Once I finish her completely, I will get some better ones. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cPdD71Cz24"]YouTube - Bi-Centennial U25BE[/ame]
Not to mention she's alive and well at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, CA. Rode behind her several years ago. Love the sound of the older FDL prime movers:tb-biggrin: Not quite as good as an ALCO 251:tb-ooh::tb-rolleyes:
What is "window maker?" Thanks. My liquid windows dried out and I am looking for something else. Micro Kristal Klear? By Microscale?
MKK is what I used in my GN F45's. Very nice work, Jerry! You say you can hardly take photos due to shaky hands/meds, but you detail better than I can with steady hands!
Hey Flash, What I use is: Kristal Klear from Micro Scale.Man,does it work great. Hope this helps, Wolf
The Testers I am using, as I said above can be used as a glue, or, it can be spread thinly over a window opening and it dries clear, making a 'window'. I have used the Testers brand to make windows, numberboard, marker lights, and have been happy with the results. It also stays pretty 'soft', so once it dries, if you are not happy with the results, you can remove it pretty easily with minimal clean-up.
This girl is now finished. Gave it a whip antenna, the brake wheel chain, and axle cables. Will lightly weather later.
A couple trips and 6800 is already picking up road grime! (Not much though...they keep the brush to her at each Terminal. )
Very nice work, Jerry! That big U-boat behind 6800 simply dwarfs it! Like I said previously, you detail better with shaky hands and meds that I do with steady ones!
Jerry: What type/manufacturer gold paint did you use? It matches really well. I had never thought about painting the step wells. TIA and thanks for the Testor's "window maker" tip.
