Final edit...for now This is the "tweak" that John mentioned. He is not happy with the definition of the gold foil when printed as an overlay over the other colors. When the foil prints by itself, it is much clearer and cleaner. We have separted the gold layer from the other layers on the steam sheet so that it prints by itself. This will require a bit more work by the modeler but we think the difference in quality is worth it. I am e-mailing him the separations now so he should be able to get to printing later this week. Tony
Proof will be completed tonight. If it looks good, then I'll do production run.....probably Thursday...... If not, then we'll drop back 10 and punt, decide what the solution will be, and go back at it like rabid beavers. This looks great Tony!
Well...mixed success. The new layout is awesome! The separation of the metalic gold worked PERFECTLY. Orange is much much better. The general set-up is done and all the work of the contributors is GREATLY appreciated. Your work is done. Now comes my magic. Big problem though........................... I'm having a BIG problem with laser head drag. Actually Alps printers are not laser printers, they are resin impregnation printers, and the print heads are very picky. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm hoping that this is simply a mechanical issue that I can fix easily. Alps printer are very very finiky and tend to have a personality. Apparently mine is very similar to my wife. Imagine that. LOL. I'll have an update tomorrow after I get a chance to work on this.
John, Good luck with getting the printer to work. I'm sure you will be able to figure it out. After all, finicky equipment is much easier to figure out than finicky women. Time to decide which of my V&T 2-8-0s gets sacrificed.
MP makes an undec. Yeah...I stayed up until 2 last night working on it. I think that Skipgear and I may have worked it out. These darn Alps really ARE an art to get working correctly.
Hi guys, Sorry for not being involved over the last few days. My wife was rushed into hospital over the weekend so as you can imagine my thoughts have been on other things. She is now home again and recovering well so I am back. I would like 3 sets of the steam sheets as I plan on doing a lot, 1 set of the GP9 would be nice if there is one going. I don’t know how many locos I can do with one patch set. I have 4 locos to do at present, each requiring a patch on each side plus I would like a another full set for future purchases so lets say enough to do 8 locos. Does that make sense? Regards, James
delljohnb, Thanks for your kind words and thoughts. My wife is recovering well. She is riding her motorcycle again so that is a good sign. How will the Decals be sent out as I only have a very small mail box and to prevent damage I am considering having them sent to my office instead. Just a thought. Thanks again, James
Done..... All of our production problems have been resolved, and I am currently doing the print run. Be sure to drop Skipgear a note if you want some. We should be able to mail these within the next couple days.
I have been trying to organize who wants what. So far only 4 people have contacted me directly: Curn OC engineer JD MinoeRR DaveN If anybody else is interested please contact me via e-mail or PM me. There will be a small charge for the decals to cover shipping and the cost of getting the orange ribbon except for Curn who has done the majority of the actual work and came up with the great artwork. I am e-mailing those that have contacted me already tonight.
Sent out a few more replies tonight. Anyone else interested, please email me at my trainboard ID @AOL dot com. Translating back and forth between the Trainboard PM's is a little difficult. I am going to talk to John tomorrow and we will probably print up the first batch this weekend. Tony
Printing tonight. Oktoberfest is this weekend in Cincinnati!!! http://www.germaniasociety.com/oktoberfest2008/index.html
Jerry, yours went out this morning. James, so did yours. Has everyone else let Skipgear know that you are interested?
