Jeff, fantastic shot over the bridge there, can we see more of that ? Old & the new BN/BNSF,GE power on Sydney N mrrc, & very early Zephyr days,
Jeff - beautiful dude!! What a great scene. I can smell the exhaust and hear the flanges squealing. Long live the SP !!
Everybodys stuff is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to share my stuff. I got a new digital camera for X-Mas. Now,if I could only get up those damm stairs
Really incredible, and inspirational work! When I built my first layout, it had construction paper roads and glossy buildings. Then I started looking at photos like these, and realized that yeah, I could at least try to do stuff like this! So I did, and while my work still isn't on the same level as many here, it's a LONG way from my beginnings, and much more satisfying to me personally. Happy Rails to You All, and thanks for sharing.
A couple more..... Taken on Dave Salamon's now-dismantled Deep River Southern: Taken out of doors: [ 28. December 2004, 18:52: Message edited by: atsf_arizona ]
Paul: You seem to have a talent for starting threads that just take off. Some of the pics here are awesome, particularly John's outdoor shot - looks so real!
It's early morning, 1972, and a short Santa Fe local is heading towards it's first stop to set off some cars with a GP35/GP30/GP20 leading.
I got this consist coming and going from the top of tunnel #3 deep in the Tehachapi Mountains of California. You can just feel the blast of hot diesel exaust...ok, so it's just on my layout... Brian
Brian, Looks like quite a steep grade coming around the curve. Looking back at this thread it seems there are quite a lot of SP modellers here. Today Jason and Alex (Sten) are coming over so hopefully I'll have some different locos to take some pics for this thread.
In this consist shot, we see a WP GP20/GP40-2/GP35 pulling the steel train from Stockton to Pittsburg CA. in the early 80's. I think this is one of model railroadings real joys....being able to re-live with models something that will never be repeated in real life.
Jerry, Love those WP locos are they all custom paint, I know Atlas released the dark green and orange and the silver and orange GP40's but not sure about the GP20 and GP35???
The GP20 and GP35 are both custom painted units, and I know you don't want to hear this, but they were all found on EBay.
