This would have to be one of the fastets moving threads in trainboards history after seeing Scotts SP tunnels I'm tempted of ordering a Cotton Belt SD45 tunnel but not sure if my pocket can stand another raid lol.
Multiple Unit Lashup Hi, all, great great shots. Colonel, that Kodachrome Tunnel Motor looks stunning. Dave N, Scott Stutzman, Pete Nolan, Flash Blackman, all the rest of you, just super! Here's some of mine (all previous posted, but hopefully the collection here is interesting): [ 27. December 2004, 01:34: Message edited by: atsf_arizona ]
Wow Pete - that is one COOL scene! The next time someone posts 'why n scale', just show that picture. Hemi - Lookin' good as usual! Your backdrop looks great - did you paint the mountains? I'm contemplating doing mine, so it's not just blue sky. How did you do yours? Colonel - don't worry, you're not the only one with Tunnel Motor fever. It seems like there are a bunch of us with the same malady!
Man, I love those Espee lashups. Just no respect for conformity! Nice pics, everyone!! My layout is designed to run five unit lashups, although the train lengths would not require it. I love to do it! Here is a U50D lashup passing Tower 121 in San Antonio, Texas. That is a U50D/F7A/GP20/GP9/U25B. Here is the real thing: Thanks to George Elwood's Fallen Flags for the prototype photo.
Dave, I have tunnel motor fever as well! I have 5 now, and 2 more awaitig number decals.... I painted my backdrop. Here's the tutorial...
40 cars. That's all the Sharks will haul up the first grade, at least dependably. They do get better with every loop, which is about 40 minutes of running, so I keep adding a car or two. I think I'm going to put a better-pulling consist on the front of that train, as the siding will handle about 65 cars. I have to say the Sharks are good runners, with consistent speed up and down grade--they're just not that well suited for heavy drags up hill. I'll be finishing the scenery up there on the third deck this week.
Dude! You need to start a thread on the specifics on your layout! That's a TON of GEez! I like the solid Cascade green grain train, as well. That shot looks like the Crawford Hill's Upper Horseshoe, as viewed from Breezy Point! The trains below the loop are the givaways that this is not Crawford, but it's otherwise very convincing!
Thanks. I am striving for the look and feel of Crawford Hill. In my opinion, I simply cannot put that much railroad in this particular room and represent the hill itself.
