Paul, Nice pic of the GN!. If possible, I would love an idea of what models they are and who makes them. Thanks
GreyOne: Don't I have an SD45 by Kato in GN orange? Is that some other paint scheme that Kato made a few years ago?
Thanks for the info on the engines. // Clicks over to favorite etailer, grabs wallet, Takes a deep breath and puts wallet away. Maybe this summer if I don't go on vacation.
Hi Guys, Thanks Paul, for posting last nights pics'. Steve . . . The power on the GN Grain Extra was : GP35_ 3023 GP9___733 GP30_ 3012 GP30_ 3001 GP35_ 3019 The GP35's are from an Atlas 'Classic' release, early 2004. The GP30's are Atlas/Kato which I managed to get hold of about 2 years ago, when one of the local guys here in Aus' decided to change his modelling era. The 5 engines seem to 'MU' well together. The GN GP30's appear on US eBay from time to time . . . . 2 popped up today !!
Patrick, Glad to have you on board here, are you bidding for those GN locos? Feather River Trains has a couple of GN SD9's on special for $49.95 S here is a link Feather River Trains
Hi Paul, Nope . . . . Two GP30's will do me for the time being . . . . However . . . I've got my 'ear to the ground' for a couple of Atlas Great Northern U25B's. Hmmm . . . I better clarify that . . . . Not those . . . arghhh . . . 'Blue' ones !! After very careful analysis and consideration, I think I'm going to have to w i d d e n my Great Northern modelling era a bit from mid 1965 . . . . to say . . . 1964 to 1966. 1964 - Last of the GN ALCO RS2's, and the GN RS3's and FA's still running 'strong' outa' Interbay to Vancouver BC and down to Portland OR. And almost all of the Alco S2's and Baldwin VO1000's still working in Seattle and Minneapolis yards. 1966 - First 12 SD45's delivered (401- HUSTLE MUSCLE) (Wish GN never spec'd the Hatchet h/brake on the nose)
Grant, Just how is the 'new' SAR coming along? I have een watching it in NSR mag since I first saw it many issues ago.. Good to see you have joined us here!
Grant, Love those units ac tually we were discussing your units at an operating night at my house last week, we were going through NSR magazine and commented on how good they look
Grant: Concur on good looking units. They seem "believeable" or prototypical. And excellent scenery, too. You are certainly invited to find us here on Weekend Photo Fun (WNFF). Hope you will post some pictures there, too.
Hemi The new sar is rolling along pretty well. I have about 50% of it rough scenicked (painted stryofoam and a little ground cover). Still messing with yard throats and industry The picture above is at the roughed in stage. Just about have the first 40 linear feet of scenery done on the west end. I think there will be a few pics in the next NSR. Won't get a whole lot done over the next 7 months. I race mountain bikes and that takes up a pile of my time. grant
That is nice Red Rock, I have been looking at doing a Dash 9-40C for a while, and your pic is really inspiring, must get to work
Wow the New layout is looking Sweet Grant!!!! btw what Mtn bike are you riding???? and what class????
