Now let's think about this.....She acknowledges that it is an HO scale car, but she can't see that an HO scale car is about the size of the buildings? If I were to use my brain (I try not to do this too often because it makes me tired and grumpy) that the buildings must be N scale, or at least a smaller scale than the car, since I have not seen too many cars about the size of a house.
She also has special train car boxes in addition to her special locomotive boxes...and this one (even though it's HO) is the 'Best Buy of the Day!'. And best of all, even with her overpriced stuff, she 'will not be undersold EVER!!!' http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Cabooses...758047?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e7e4964df
The ad also says "INCLUDES: 3 Cabooses (1) NEW Union Pacific (no box), (1) NEW Santa Fe (in Box), (1) used Burlington Route( no Box). Total of 3." Then below that states "ONE LOW SHIPPING CHARGE FOR 4 Train Cars!" So which is it? Three? Four?
It's obvious - if there was a total of 4, you'd get a "GREAT LOW SHIPPING CHARGE for 4 train cars!" As it is, there's only 3, so it's not all that great :cute:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Athearn-HO-...750940?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e7f00641c Oh my goodness she is everywhere. Looking through Ho scale listings I found a LOCOMOTIVE ENGINE! vulcan lady strikes again
I know that this is not HO, but it was listed under it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-LIONEL-CA...750969?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20d7662c79
Do the knuckle heads that have train related items listed on flea-bay for sometimes double the "normal" price actually sell these items??? I mean come on... with a little bit of research anyone can clearly see that some of these prices are ridiculous. (Sorry if you are reading this and you are one of these knuckle heads, more power to you I suppose)..... And while I'm ranting about flea-bay, is it me or is there like no private good deals anymore? I searched around on there recently and it seems to be all dealer or insane nobodies trying to make a quick buck off of stupid stuff. Seems like no fun anymore.
I have been a member of that site for over sixteen years. The fun of buying, selling or even browsing there went away many long years ago.
Yeah, I don't think it's as good as it was when I joined back in 2001. A buddy said even then, it was worse than it use to be when he started. It's not much different than local swap meets, not as many individuals as what there are dealers now it seems. There are still good deals to be had on the site, you just have to be a little more diligent and focused than what we once were. I think this thread points out the stupids and weirdness almost too much to where it has become a mindset, but I don't have anything against this thread either as I've added to it and also enjoy reading it. I consider it a good comic relief.
I hear you, although I still get some enjoyment out of it. Not much PROFIT, but still...it's interesting. And there are deals to had, although it seems much fewer and farther apart. I rarely if ever find a deal on something specific I'm looking for, rather I will stumble on to them by chance. Sometimes I'll enter "ho scale" on the search, call it up under "items ending soonest" and just start scanning up the list. There is so much stuff, you can scan for an hour and not get too far in the future as to when the auction will end. Then just look for "stuff". mostly things that someone has posted with a poor or vague description. These are the things that have a chance to slip through the cracks of the usual folks who put a bid on ANYTHING you might want. I found a set of P2K diesels recently that way at a super price - poor description, poor photos, low initial bid price. Thing is, I wasn't actively searching for those particular diesels either - if I had, I'd have missed them too! As for the above-mentioned "knuckleheads" selling at twice or more realistic prices - I am assuming they have to sell SOMETHING to stay at it. They usually have huge 4-digit feedback numbers at 100%. I don't get it either, but...I guess they only have to hit a few sales out of many to make it profitable?
I'm told that eBay has injected some more "humor" by implementing "policies" which are allegedly easier to keep track of but seem to me just confusing. Now, instead of seeing what your default shipping policy is, including for example where the seller is willing to ship, you see "Policy Number 12345678." And apparently this "default" now automatically includes shipping to Canada. I suspect this is a way to "encourage" sellers to ship internationally, through eBay's relatively new "US Overseas Shipping Location" or whatever they call it. I wonder what will happen if a seller that specifies as part of a listing that they don't ship outside the US is suddenly stuck with having to do so thanks to the now-contradictory shipping "policy"? Perhaps that's a rhetorical question.
Heorge- What you describe is exactly why the enjoyment went away for me. Wading through ever increasing, and confusing regulatory edicts, became simply ridiculous and absurd.
Here's a new one. While listed in HO it also states that it's good for N scale as well. 2 Pre-made miniature ponds (actually little flat blobs of 'bendable rubber'), no two are alike. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Miniature...133471?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item43bf3b261f
Same seller (they have over 200 items in HO, most of them ponds), a koi pond made with the same 'flexible rubber'. Looking up close, they don't look like koi to me... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Miniature-R...200644?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item461290f584
Same seller, but this time a box of sticks...ahem, I mean HO scale 'dead wood, fallen logs, wood, forest, drift wood, stumps', hand picked 'making sure they would fit an HO scale layout': http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dead-Wood-F...ail-Road-HO-/300964024426?hash=item4612da906a
Wow...I went to her site. She says "use what Nature gave us". And pay her $15.00 to hand it on to you? Get ready to start your new business, boxcab!
