What it has to do is: You want to know what the manufacturer's suggested retail price is? Well it's discontinued, so that doesn't count any more. It is there a rare item and it's worth whatever a seller can get for it.
well someone bid on it...wonder if they realize they can find them with a little time for less than $10. And in the main pic you can see the price tag for $11.35
They go through the effort of having it custom painted, don't bother to add detail parts or even the micro trains conversion, and then expect to get $300?
Where do you fnd one of these for $10.00? I want to shop where you shop. We have 8 or 9 of those GN(EB on red flatcar) on the club layout. None were obtained for less than $25.00. A friend paid $60.00 + s/h for a pair of them and giggled about getting a 'deal'. I've never seen one sell on eBay for less than $30.00. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390566863548
My first n scale.....the whole thing, engine, track, switches, cars, power pack cost me less than that one car sold for. Dave
If you fill the tank, you'll double the value. Now, does it still have the factory air in the passenger compartment?
Why anyone would pay that much is beyond me...being the cars are not prototypical...and if don't care about roadname...you can find some online for less than $12 Brand new
Much of this thread focuses on insane sellers, but wow, how 'bout them insane buyers? EG, when did old Atlas/Riv steamers suddenly become gold-plated? I've been trying to pick one up for parts (IE for cheap) over the past couple of weeks and the going rate seems to be ~$30 for dead ones and $40+ (and sometimes way beyond) for running ones. Case in point (one of many) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/140997691705?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649 Wasn't there some guy a few years back who had a whole warehouse full of these things that he was basically selling by the pound and still couldn't give away on eBay? Seems like he's sitting on a gold mine now if he's still around... Total craziness, man. Cheers. -Mark
Spookshow, I'll have to look but I'm pretty sure I have several. I can probably make you a deal...but then maybe I'll just put them up on ebay and make bank
Another one for the serious collectors: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLW-Special...830571?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item51ae5f46ab How much are some willing to pay per car
Hey man why the gripe, if you bother to read the add you will see that is a "special" car, that boost the price at leat 500%. lolololol how about the 48 buks to ship, weighing by the gram?!!! lolol
Couldn't believe my eyes... http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHESSIE-STE...253444?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item33836c6e04 And I quote: "the (sic) lable (sic) still has the backing on it and is still sticky and appears it was never peeled off and put on the box. A factory error worth ???????????????"
I was gonna jump at this one, unfortunately they won't ship to Australia, I have been looking for a Con-Cor label that's still sticky for I don't know how long, the tender would have been a bonus, bumma!
