I guess of one was making a passenger train wreck scene the seller might find a buyer. Otherwise these belong in round file "13"
If they were Japanese prototypes, and you could find a large model of Godzilla:
Another RARE loco, and it's used to boot. http://tiny.cc/0gi5ew The only thing that is somewhat rare is it was one of the few units that was printed with White ink instead of Black.
Just saw this one pop up and at first I thought okay, rare bridge, out of production and missing the house for the mechanism. No biggie right. http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-ROLLING-L...144537?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item256f5cd419 Now look at the second link I have posted. It appears he has the entire kit and has removed the housing mechanism with the motor so you have to buy both pieces to get the full kit. http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-TRAINS-PO...255943?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item256e79a587
I realyy like the bridge , I do not like the control house though, I think I'd rather hide the motor underneath the layout and provide a better bridge tender shack. Maybe I'll buy JUST the bridge....I'll bet he relists the motor for much less.... Randy
I like the bridge too Randy. I actually have one still in the sealed box. I bought it at a swap meet a couple years ago for $5! SCORE!!!! I just wish it had the motor for it. I am with you on the control house. I have thought about maybe finding a motor and sticking it inside of a switch tower instead of the control house. On my planned layout this lift bridge would be need to raised and lowered to get trains in and out of the yard as you would have to cross the river to get to the yard. This would be setup much like the Longview, Wa yard is. So in essence the switch tower would act as a bridge control and a switch tower for the yard.
WOW http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Vintage-1970-N-Scale-Jamco-Brass-Shell-Prototype-Locomotive-Engine-Hudson?item=400301159502&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8883136846673988852
Wow's right, that's a lot of money, but I don't know that I wold put it in eBay "humor" category...that looks like a respectable model of an unique prototype. Way too rich, but there's the " best offer" option....who knows what that may be. The next question would be where does one get an 84" drivered Hudson mechanism to go with the shell. And yeah, And the tender.... Regards, Otto
Well it would be a collectible item, that is certain. But for the price noted, I have great doubt. Somehow the number of two has me wondering.
Just checked with an N collector friend. He says what he recalls is six of those shells and they all came with Con-Cor mechanisms. Also there were some later copies made of that Jamco shell, which he has some.
Greenberg's Guide to N Gauge Trains (Dallas Mallerich, 1980) shows one of these with the Con-Cor mechanism - He too states that there are likely six of the pre-production shells floating around out there (two made for each of the three gentleman involved in the aborted venture). Cheers, -Mark
http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-San...987662?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2ebed2e44e New list on this engine is 41.98. Sells for 24.99 new at a popular online retailer. $99.99 Buy it now???????? What gives. Fred
To me, it just shows the seller is not informed at all regarding N scale. This loco is available at any swap meet or in a used train case for maybe 5 bucks tops. It is a decent runner, but put it up against anything else you can get for the $99.99 Buy It Now price it is very weak, pasty and pathetic. When I was on the website chuckling over it, I had this mortal fear that my finger would accidently touch the wrong button and I would be stuck with it. Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
I will be listing a TON of N scale stuff soon, paying for school and all..... So, my plan? 30-day BIN auctions with a best-offer button. Everything will be listed at/around retail (rare stuff at recent high-auction prices). The best-offer button is a great tool, especially when you encourage buyers to use it in your ad.... if I list a $40 "street value" loco for $0.01 starting bid, it may hit $40 or may not go over $30... but if I list it at $59 OBO, I'm likely to get that $40 "street value" out of it more often than not. And, if you're not in a rush to sell something? Sometimes a rare piece is worth something to someone with a lot more disposable income! Proof's in the pudding; I have had Intermountain FP7's auction for $250+ before, so there ya go.... and the buyer was a local guy with a specific "want" and a lot of hobby money. I'll give a nod to that JAMCO brass steamer shell seller; he's also got some brass bollacks when it comes to selling
Decent runner? Wow, over in my universe they all pretty much suck (but hey, that's just me). Cheers, -Mark
