Surely this is one those famous joke listings? If not, I am going list one track spike and see who is stupid... Er, I mean bids.

New idea: start selling individual rapido couplers. I'd be scary seeing who would actually pay money for those when most of us can't even give them away.

I would have left this alone, but Mark hit on my pet peeve! Why won't someone release these smaller units with a decent mechanism and space for a teeny little dcc board? Not that any manufacturer is watching a thread about buying used stuff, but I can't skip an opportunity to ask for these smaller ones.

Joiner style may vary? And there are multiple listings of single rail joiners, N and HO? (One of these is bid up to 31 cents.)

Most of the other auctions are generally ordinary HO Scale rolling stock from the, ahem, previous century, but there are also listings that just say "coming soon." Definitely not something you see everyday.

Actually, just for sh*ts and grins I took a bunch of my old Rapido couplers and bunched, however how many you get in a good handful, stuck them in a sandwhich bag and listed them on Ebay about a year ago. I put a starting bid of $0.99 with $2 shipping. I honestly DID NOT think they would have even got a bid. I about had a heart attack when 2 people were in a bidding war for them and paid over $20 for the grab bag. I did this a total of 3 times. I think the 3rd time I only got $9 out of the bag. But hey, it sure beat what I would have got throwing them away.

OK, I just did a calculation and I can get them new for 6.75 cents each.

There are already two bids and it is up to six cents.

But what's wrong? Photo shows two obviously used joiners...you get one. You could, given that, claim misrepresentation on the auction.

I agree that's the most incredible Ebay auction I've ever seen. Ever. I'm still trying to figure out who is the bigger idiot, the seller or the buyer.

Now I'll admit I've sold all the plastic handrails I cut off my diesels, and it turned into quite a bidding war. I've sold Rapido-coupler equipped trucks. I've sold old wheelsets. I live by the maxim that you can sell old dirty socks as long as you accurately and fairly describe them as old dirty socks. Still, it's a whole 'nuther level here.

Well in the category of model railroading this takes first prize. Plus with the cost of a stamp, a plain piece of paper to wrap it so it doesn't poke through the envelope, and the envelope, the seller is on the losing end of this one. Of course unless the rail joiner is platinum. Now in the category of food I can just imagine stuffing a half eaten Balogna sandwich in a mailer. And by the time the buyer gets the half eaten sandwich what is he/she going to do with it? Hmm feed it to the mother in law?

How about this for an annoyance... a photo posted of multiple cars, but the auction is for only one of the cars.

If you're too lazy to take individual photos of what you're selling, I'm too lazy to bid.

I would also file this under "misleading" regardless of how clear in the verbiage it is that "you are only bidding on the second car from the top in the third row."

Up to 16 cents now. I'm starting to dig in my junk box. Think I may have some old corroded wire and a couple of those rail joiners.

I have that book , I didn't know it was worth that much . It's for sale now !

There is a book by Vic Roseman I think it's called "A modelers guide to the Railway Express Agency" , its a very valuable book too.. It's also for sale.

Yikes! For an item usually easily under five bucks at swap meets.... Looks like more fishing for suckers to me. No license required, no limit to daily catches....

I sometimes see items on Amazon where a new book is $24.95 and the same book used is over $100.
