Yes I also agree about the CV Hemi - it looks fab! - just as it was envisioned ... and now brought to life !
I'm glad you like the final product. It still needs a few touch-ups, and I also got the decals in the mail for the primer unit. We'll see if they work!
Hemi, Do you have a secret for getting the windows back in the AC44's once your done? I've spent more than one evening cussing and swearing at Kato engineers over the last few years. Almost gotten to the point where I won't paint them any more.... Thanks, Brian
Sort of late to this thread... This is my first atttempt at painting a loco... I don't believe Amtrak ever had PAs.
Not late at all. Besides this thread represents > 4 percent of your posts. PAs look good in _any_ scheme. Nicely done!
Brian, on those Dash-9's, I placed the glazing into the interior of the cab. I inserted the windshield portion first, (at this point, the glazing of the windshield should protrude beyond the windshield frame of the cab) at an angle. Rotate it into approximate position, and it should snap into place. The glazing is not my nemesis--the snapping-the-cab-assembly-onto-the-sill-assembly part is the biggest pain in the butt ever. I thought installing and removing Kato SD90MAC glazing was the worst ever, but the Dash-9 snap-fit cab is the toughest ever for me. It took me a couple evnings to simply disassemble these pieces of engineering. I'm willing to bet Kato's design for the Dash-9's is the same as for the ACeez. Don't get me wrong, they look great when assembled, and prolly will pull the paint off the walls, but they are not designed with modelers in mind.:tb-mad:
Let's make a deal then, you put the glass back in and I'll put the shell back together... I've gotten the shell disassembly down, just don't ask me to describe it because it'll scare the pants off you... I've tried that method and it never seems to want to snap back in place after I get done painting. Might have such a tight tolerance that any paint keeps it from snapping back in. I'll have to try cleaning the window frames out a little better next time. Sorry about mistaking it for an AC. I didn't look close enough at it. It's a really nice unit either way. Brian
