Thanks Fitz. Continuing the number series, I present T&NO GS-1 701 in San Antonio, 1940. If you look real close you can even see Jason firing the locomotive. (To catch that pun you need to know a bit about Greek Mythology and SP passenger trains [IMG] )

Moving right along, here is number 703. This is another member of my favorite class of engines, the GS-1, in El Paso in 1937. The four engines that went to T&NO kept their cylindrical tenders throughout their life. The ten that were delivered to the "Pacific Lines" received updated 22,000 gallon rectangular tenders in 1937.

Russell, I like the looks of those GS-1's. The spoked drivers and lack of skyline casing make them very unique in the SP family of GS's. And you can see all the appliances. :D

Well all right, I'll play along:

From the Fallen Flags website of George Elwood, a pic of Frisco 4-8-4 4524, in full FriscoFastFreight livery on the side of the tender, doing what she did best. Nowadays, you can catch her on display at Grant Park in Springfield, MO (or as we Frisco Folks call it, Mecca) :D

When WWII came along most of these ten were shipped East to the "Atlantic Lines" and received T&NO numbers. Texas laws being what they were, specified that the brakeman on freight engines needed a place to sit down. The General Service engines were also used in freight so a dog house had to be added. The problem was that these 220-R-1 tenders did not have much room on top for one. The solution was to cut down into the water tank and make a tiny room for the brakeman. Besides the hand lever and gauges on the brake line, the guy was supplied with a urinal. You can see the outflow tube running down the side of the tender. This is my post number 710 and engine 710.

    Hey, where are the windows?

    I know "B" Units wouldn't but what's up with #2600?

The 2600 was made into a B unit. They just took out the windows and plated the holes with metal rather than remove the cab and refab the body.

Pity they did not remove the cab, that looks horrible! Better if they had just painted over the windows :(

Still, #2600 was a good catch as it's very odd in deed.

Man, I need to get posting as I just realized that until I get up to post #2920 I can't post another D&H to this topic.
