OK, This is my 1900th post, and I wanted to start a topic, where you post a shot, your work or otherwise, of a locomotive that bears your post count, and a short history behind her. BN Photo archives pic: Built as NP 283 in Jul 56 rebuilt to 1538 in Jan 93. She'd prolly look like this sister unit, I shot it in Cheyenne this year: [ 14. I'm confused. Admittedly, I don't follow the mega-merger companies very closely. BNSF 1533, (as pictured in this thread), is a rebuilt BN GP9? Somehow that seems like an incredibly extensive, expensive project? Boxcab E50
Yep. Musta been cheaper than a new unit, somehow! Morrison Knudsen GP28M (Rebuilt EMD GP9/GP18/GP5) Surely, Ken, you can find a Milwaukee Road pic with 4258 or something on it, right?
What's a GP5? The unit pictured looks closer to a GP50.... Looking at it's frame, I'd say it was not a GP9/18. But much later. Well, looks like I'll have troubles finding a picture of anything Milw in locos. I'm too far past the SD45 4000 series. Would need to wait until I hit the U25B area... 5000 and up. Boxcab E50
I will quickly work my way up to 1776, 1976 & 2000 very soon so watch your "six" as I'm coming up fast.
After studying the possibilities, and gazing at length into my crystal ball, a vague idea is taking root. Could it be that he'll post pictures of D&H equipment? Boxcab E50
Dunno. It does seem like an odd notion. Now watch this folks- When number 1776 comes around, he'll post up something from the Texas-Mexican, or Florida East Coast. Just to get even with me. Boxcab E50
What makes you think I would do something like that? Post#1739 / NYC#1739 (F7A) Photo by Jerry Appleman at La Grange, Illinois. (April, 1965)
OK, I'll play. But I have to go all the way back to the FT-era to find the right unit number, and I certainly don't have a shot that old! http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?//september99/09-12-99/atxsf126drcoll.jpg You'd be amused to find out that the FIRST hit that googled off that FT unit number was on the JJJ&E!
Well, my post count is much lower than you all. But I did come up with this. It seems fitting, small post count- small engine. AFCR 0093 Arizona Freight Car Repair 25 Ton Switcher It is meaningful to me as it was shot in my old hometown of Tucson, AZ (which I miss A LOT).
This is the closest thing you'll see as far as SP numbers are concerned: http://espee.railfan.net/sp-police-passenger.html
Coaltrain, nice steamer! Guess I gotta do this since it's a sorta milestone. Not my photo, though, belongs to George Elwood. New York Central Mohawk 2800, builder's photo. George Elwood's Fallen Flags Thanks, once again, George.
