No, there are a few ways to know what "Post" you are at. If you look at the bottom of your post here it shows that that was Post #43. You can click on the My Profile & Private Messages link on the top of the page and then follow the link to "View My Recent Posts" and find the last post and see what Post # it was. Another way is to click on the Directory link on the top of the page and then use the "Community Directory Search" for your Display Name (i.e. Mr. Train") which will show your Post Number. This can be slightly out of date as this is only update every so often. If you then click on the "Post Number" it will take you to the "View My Recent Posts" screen as well and you can check it that way too. If you notice, "fitz" post was #2900 while the link was for #2901 so even those of us that have been around awile still miss by a number or two but it's the spirt that counts.
ATSF #2 Image courtesy of Early EMD Diesel Railroad Locomotives . Amazing what you can find with Google. Apparently this is ATSF #2 (same as my post count) -- I found the number-board a little hard to read, myself. E1A / E1B, built by EMD June 1937; Renumbered in 1940 to #2L; and Rebuilt in 1952to a E8Am and renumbered in 1953 to #80L. My sources say she was later returned to EMD and replaced with a GP38.
Here is my next entry into this challenge of a locomotive that bears your post count... #2311 (a.k.a. The Gray Ghost)
This one is for Boxcab. His next post will be number 5315. 5315 was the New York Central Hudson that wrecked in my hometown of Little Falls, NY in 1940. This shot is from better days. From the collection of Bob Spaugh.
Reminds me of Lionel trains from my youth. That classic outline, wheel arrangement, and tender. Boxcab E50
I just noticed my last one was 3000. Soooo, here's 3001, up close and personal, a Ron Morse photo of the NY Central Mohawk on display at Elkhart, IN. BTW, Where are you, Ron?
Well, if I had some good pics of Frisco Northerns (the 4500-class), I'd post one, since I'm now at 4500 or so. I'll see what I can find, and git back to ya...........
Hemi, I'm sure glad you started this topic as it's allot of fun to watch us try to plan a post here based on our post number. Check your "six" though as I'm coming up fast.
Now Lady Sunshine has passed the magic 2000 mark. Here is a fine looking New York Central H-7 class Mikado, courtesy of George Elwood's great fallen flag photo site. She's up to 2003 now, and that's this engine's number. http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/nyc/nyc-s2003ajh.jpg
I absolutely LOVE this paint scheme... GN Big Sky Blue, GP35 renumbered to BN 2519: BN Photo Archives pic:
