Both are RR. The highway bridge is a few miles (km) away. Also, this is an older picture. When I was there, I saw piers from an earlier bridge, too. I don't see that in this picture. BTW, very deep and a fast current here. Construction was difficult. Beautiful train ride along the coast from downtown Sydney to Gosford took about one hour. Some WWII fighting in here, also.
Great photos everyone! Here are a few I have at my fingertips. First is the lift bridge on the Chester Secondary crossing the Darby Creek on the border of Ridley Township and Tinicum Township, PA. The train in SCAL and the picture was taken about 1988. Next is the bridge on the ex-PRR Trenton Cut-off just south of Downingtown, PA. The bridge spans the Brandywine Creek and US 322. The bridge is no longer in service. The train crossing is the Conrail Executive train and the photo was taken in 1986. Last is the bridge on ex-PRR Manayunk Line that crosses the Schuylkill River and Schuylkill Expressway along with several other streets in Philadelphia. This bridge is also out of service. The train is a Philadelphia Chapter NRHS special and the photo was taken around 1987.
Late to the party as usual. Here's a shot of the old NdeM bridge over the Panuco River (between Tamaulipas and Veracruz states) just west of Tampico. I would have loved to get a shot of a train on the bridge, but they pulled up the tracks and abandoned this line several years ago. Regards
Well, nobody guessed. So, the answer is that Carcross is a contraction of Caribou Crossing. Boxcab E50
Tom- By chance would you know what ever happened to the CR Executive Train? Scrapped? Museum? Sold off? Boxcab E50
These photos are of the 9-span CSX bridge across Rigolets Pass east of New Orleans taken from the back platform of Amtrak's Gulf Wind in 1984.
