Welcome to our family here on the TrainBoard, Rob! You are not alone, there are some other members from the Netherlands here whom you may know already. Ivo Willemsen is one that comes to mind, that models in the "N" Scale primarily the Union Pacific and John Deere tractor equipment. What are your interests Rob? Do you run real trains, model trains, take pictures, or going to school, retired, or just pet you dog?
Rob: Welcome to Trainboard. So, when they removed the bridge, did it get replaced with a larger one? In the same place? This thread is about real bridges, but these model bridges are amazing to me. http://home.att.net/~no5gonehome/wsb/html/view.cgi-photos.html-.html
Through-Truss Swing Bridge - Mystic, Connecticut This is where the Boston to New York main line passes through Mystic. That is an Acela high speed train on the bridge.
Some shots of the old Southern Pacific bridge on the Sunset Route over the Brazos River in Richmond, Texas. [ December 09, 2005, 05:30 PM: Message edited by: r_i_straw ]
Every day, sometimes 20-30 trains. UP claims they can see cracks better without paint. When it crumbles away in a heap of rust, they will still be looking for cracks.
Here is another shot of the new BNSF bridge over the Brazos. You can see the older stone piers reused from the structure built in the late 1800's that this bridge replaced.

IMHO, that is a very thin looking girder for the distance it spans. Sure is nicely painted, spiffy looking bridge, though.
Thought that GCFX looked familiar. It showed up on a couple of my trains here in NY a while ago. Last I saw of it, it was headed for Canada. When was that shot taken?
The Portage Bridge on NS's Southern Tier Line over Letchworth State Park in NY. Ok, why can you see the pic but all I get is the dreaded RED X? [ December 15, 2005, 09:41 AM: Message edited by: Rule 281 ]
