Other contests are fine and dandy. I prefer we not dilute the "Challenge" - - I really like the concept of the 72-hour window to get off the couch and snap fresh pictures. Call any contest with old photos a "Post Your Best xxxxxx".

Your idea sounds good, the "post your best". Seeing fallen flag shots in any contest sounds good to me. Not to take anything away from the 72 hour challenge.

Thanks guys for all the good comments. There were a bunch of good entries and I'm appreciative of the votes and the win.

I have to say I think this is a really fun format. It's actually got me kinda excited about railfanning again.

BTW, in case anyone is curious, I was NOT standing on the tracks taking this picture. I was actually at a grade crossing, in my Tahoe, no traffic, and I only semi-stopped long enough to fire off that one shot and I was rolling again. I was actually kinda bummed, as normally the (approach-lit) signals on the other end of the yard as well as at the West Irving TRE station (not visible at the top of the hill in the photo) are illuminated making for what could have been a much more "signal-esque" photo.
