Thanks for the weathering run down, they just look very realistic.I gather it would be an idea to weather under the same fairly bright light too,so you get the same overall effect.
Ta for the link I'll be looking into one of these TT's & one more Q for you,Diamond Scale arch?haven't heard of them before,do they have a web site?
Look forward to your layout thread.

    Jason, good buddy!

Just happen to be awake at this time... [IMG]

Diamond Scale has made turntables for a long time. It was started by a construction firm owner who was a model railroader. He couldn't find a prototypical US turntable, so he started making them in HO and O scale. They were big (135' and 120') and were very difficult kits. I thought they had just about gone out of business about 15 years ago. Now they have N scale, too, and are excellent turntable, although the other manufacturer's have now made similar prototypes. I am sure a Diamond Scale arch is a good one and prototypical.

I think I am correct on this background. Perhaps some could make corrections?

    Jason:

No package yet, but still early I think.

Someone did a thread on TB on the construction and installation of a CMR turntable. It was an excellent narrative and pictures.

    This just in:
The Secret Places Sub received new motive power last week, after a renumbering, and some finishing touches, it was sent on the road. Our faithful railfan photographer will out to see if he can snag some shots...

OK, in real life, I just got another Conrail refugee GP40, and renumbered it. Also, another GP40 just entered the roster, awaiting the MARS lite... ( as are 3 SD50's for some time)
The GP30/35's also got weathered, heavily, and will be making an appearance soon!

Well, the bell, whistle and steam pops are kind of gold. :D [IMG]
The Denver Rio Grande & Western did not have any narrow gauge Moguls, at least not in later years. So I gave this an 0-6-0 number.

OK, so it's not technically Aspen Gold, but it's still Grande!

The Secret Places Sub has acquired new power, still in the paint shop; look for a pair of SD45's and more coal-service SD50's soon!
The SPS also has been working its modest Geep fleet hard, and it shows:

You can tell the time frame between the quads and the type of coal. Modern coal loads are pumped out of a tube and look like vinyl. The loads as they come from Trainworx look like the modern load. I added XFine real coal on top to back date the train to before the flood loaders were installed.
