Hello every one, I was wondering whjat passenger service on your layout consisted of. I am also wondering what brand your pass. cars are. I use some Con-Cor smooth sides, a few passed down too short streamlined Model Power cars, and 6 Kato smooth side cars. The EBCRL runs 3 passenger trains, all of them avrage 6 cars. I have made some gen. cars as freight units lead my trains until some one makes a decent F59-F40! So, whats your passenger service like? Dane N. Happy Railroadng! ------------------ TAMR2860-AKA BC Rail King TAMR2860@hotmail.com THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN R BEHIND YOU BUT I DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE [This message has been edited by BC Rail King (edited 29 April 2000).]
Non-existant, Dane! For the moment - but I have three Con-Cor smooth side cars, intended to be repainted into Andersley Western colours, and hauled by the star locomotive, RS1 #1000 These will be local runs, business specials, or tourist trains (or any other excuse I can think of!!!) WHEN a decent Amtrak loco. appears, I intend to run a string of Superliners. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com

One complete 12 car set of Con-Cor Superliners (PH-III), 3 Bachmann Amfleet in Amtrak (PH-II), 3 Con-Cor MHC, One misc. ATSF fluted SS 85'ers (Atlas/Con-Cor, Bachmann, Rivarossi). But all are sidelined until the Powers that be release some new drives in the F40PH or other more modern Amtrak Power. I run the ATSF stuff as a Business train when I feel like it with a Con-Cor/Sagami Can Motored E-8 A-B set. ------------------ RAILROADING-TO-THE-MAX, Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Style! Sepctrum DDA40X with Six Rivarossi Passenger cars, Kato Business car. OCS special, gotta love the UP. Looking at the Challenger as well for power. Otherwise, Amtrak doesn't visit my town, they need new power first. ------------------ Corey Lynch VP - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
The M.A.T. has a number of heavy weight passenger cars including observation cars, pullman cars, combination cars and diner cars. All are made by Rivarossi. I haven't finished painting these yet. I also have ten smooth sided cars in CP colours.
M&CRS owns 4 passenger cars one streamlined coach (EX SP)used for a local service and upgraded with HEP normally pulled by a SD45 (EX BN) 3 old time passenger cars used for excusions. ------------------ Theres no such thing as having to many coal hoppers or GP40-2 when you model Chessie System LONG LIVE THE KITTEN!!! I don't have a layout yet; however, I have several passenger trains and plan to buy a few more. I have a Concor L&N set headed up with a Concor L&N Pacific. I have nearly two full sets of Concor heavy-weights for Southern (one Crescent and one I painted in the more typical pullman green scheme). A Kato smoothside set (VIA) awaits the stripper and airbrush for conversion to Southern. I plan on buying the Southern Budd cars and I also plan on purchasing some car conversion sides for Seaboard and Atlantic Coastline passenger cars. Need something to follow these nice E-7s and 8s that I have . I'd model Amtrak, but I'm waiting for a decent non-brass Amtrak locoo. Look Ahead, Look South
The Grande Valley only runs tourist trains consisting of several Bachmann heavyweights. We also run AMTRASH . This consist of one repowered LL F-40 (uses Atlas GP-40-s innards and several cars od diffferent brands. ------------------ Catt!
My passenger fleet covers most PRR periods. *Set of 4 Bachmann 65' tuscan, old standard, lighted, early period PRR. Look correct with my DD-1 electric. *Set of 6 Rivarossi tuscan heavyweights in PRR livery. Looks good behind a K-4 steam. *Set of 4 Modelpower streamlined, silver with tuscan lettering, PRR livery. *Set of 6 Kato smoothsides, tuscan, PRR livry. Run behind my GG-1. *Set of 4 Arnold lightweight, stainless steel with tuscan lettering, PRR livery. *Special Edition 7 car set of PRR 'Loewy' design smoothside, tuscan. By the way, these have the best running trucks. A-B E8 pulling power. *Kato PRR business car. *4 headend REA Express cars, tuscan and green. *2 PRR gas powered doodlebugs. *3 car set of PRR Budd RDC commuters. *A couple of odd ball RPO cars picked up at shows. *Several old time passenger cars I use for the Ecuadorian railroad I modeled. Plus two remodeled boxcars, used by Ecuador SA. as passenger cars. Box cars have open center doors and small square cutout windows, as well as benches along walls for seats. I rode in one of these for a couple of hours! *And 1 heavweight repainted as my own personal car. I have the NP North Coast Limited posing as a Mainstreeter because I lack another A unit. The train consists of Kato F7's A and B, and the 4 and 6 car Kato smoothsides painted in Raymond Lowey green. ------------------ Robert Ray The NP & UP N-Scale Railroad

No passenger service for my layout yet. Still waiting for some decent power to pull it. I have however broke down and bought several of ConCor's Superliner cars in the hope that someday someone will produce a F40 I can live with. Guess I'll have to follow Catt's lead and repower!
Hey now, I must say the idea of having my own car interests me a great deal! We would have to substitute alittle Crown Royal & Coke for the red wine, but other than that a smashing idea!
Danimal, what is 'Crown Royal'? (Remember I am from England) Can't get better than red wine, anyway (unless it is Jack Daniels ) ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com
Freight, yuk! Passenger all the way Alan A question though, how many people have tried to use brass pass. cars? I have heard they are too heavy, any comments?? Happy Railroading! Dane N. ------------------ TAMR2860-AKA BC Rail King TAMR2860@hotmail.com
How do the Life-Like F40's run. I recently bought some superliners, but I don't have power to pull them. It looks like Life-Like is the only manufacturer of F40's. Should I buy one? I understand that LL has improved their locos, but I don't know if the F40's are among the ones with the "improved" mechanisms. Does anyone know? ------------------ Rett
LL F40s have NOT been improved yet, hope they do it soon (yes they are the only Amtrak passeneger loco producer in plastic). I have one, only pulls about ten cars, no flywheels. Good for a small train, but not much like they run today. ------------------ Corey Lynch VP - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
