Yeah, I know...it's a failing. I was thinking wash racks might not be a bad idea - at least it would give me an excuse for having those horribly clean locos...Another job for Mr. Scratcher! It's all here! Start at the beginning - back on page 1 JSL, thanks!
Jim, How do you detail your aces, do you take them all apart to add the details and paint the handrail and such. Any pictures of you detailing them. Thanks for the inspiration. JSL
Thanks, Boilerman! JSL, Since I generally need to take the shell off to put a decoder in, that's when I do the detail work. I picked up a couple a month or so ago and after arrival, I had them fully detailed, decodered and road worthy in about two hours...it's nice when everything goes well, and I obviously have it down to a system - shell off, fit decoder, test, paint handrails and steps (this is the big time taker, you need to go back occasionally for touch up - and FYI I use a 10/0 brush and Modelflex Reefer White), cab shade, MU cable, shell on, program, ready. Simple, right?
Hey Jim, What ratio did you use for your grade coming out of your staging yard. ___ inch per ____feet. I hope you understand my question?? JSL
I DO understand, JSL. I keep it at about one per cent; that's one inch in a hundred inches. In this case you could also call it one inch in eight feet (96 inches) and be pretty close... Wish that room had been another four feet long...and while I'm at it, maybe another four feet wide, too! I think what it boils down to is no matter how much room you have, you'd still like more...
You'll recall from last week there was surveying activity out on the line - we continue: They're taking out fence posts! What's going on? A bit later, bundles of ties have been dropped off. But this is a concrete tie railroad, and these are WOODEN ties...What's happening? Continued next week...
Setout track for defective cars? The retaining wall my wife has been asking me to build for the last 16 years? Jamie
I have 13 of them all have a Digitrax DN163K1C and the lights are orange because of the orange tinted light pipe Kato used. Was wondering if a different LED was used.
They are decodered; that may have helped; and that's a Helicon Focus shot, that may also have something to do with it. I also do a color correct pass since my shots tend toward the yellow... David, close...stay tuned...
Continuing from last week... Still more going on out on the line... I'll try for another angle - traffic's pretty heavy today... We'll know what's going on for sure next week...
A team track for setouts and bad orders? Those rock castings are gonna look awesome when they're painted and weathered.
