Guiding light, good one :) No, it is Miller Engineering and right now I have the battery pack that came with it, I think. Been so long I don't remember if it was an extra purchase, but probably was. Now I am going to look at the AC plug they sell at Miller Engineering as it eats batteries like crazy if you use it for any amount of time! It's just an AC adapter but not sure where it plugs up yet! I am going to get one though! In the future. Probably another Miller Engineering sign or two also!

Have a surprise coming too from the fruit Etailer, as a matter of fact a few that have to do with light's.

Play surprise music, you know like that... well I don't know how you type it! Like that Dom, Dom, Dom, or how ever you spell it :) Y'all know what I mean!

Other option for creating lit signs and/or billboard.

Have had plans to make the CNJ station sign with logo lit.

    upload_2022-12-17_12-38-34.png

However, another option.. instead of using a electro-mechanical approach like the Woodland product, is to use a "route" with DCC EX Rail and a few lines of code..

This look really cool. Glad they are not as big as they looked in the photo in the retailer site. Getting ready to try them with a ES44DC locomotive!

Awesome so far! Hope I can get the light kits in them with no problem? So much smaller then the CB&Q Zephyr ones! Or appear to be! And I almost didn't get these, glad I did, so far.

Now to figure out which way the diffuser goes in? I don't know and in my case it is suppose to attach to the roof, I think? At least it works, for now :) Of course I am not done yet. Going be really cool, if I figure it out! I am going very, very, slow. Don't want to break anything! Back to the videos again :) At least it light's up, for now!

If anyone has installed these in the type cars I got. Help is appreciated! I know I have to find the freaking tabs, even with magnifying glass this stuff is tiny!

Looks kind of bright in the back. But I think I have it installed correctly, I think. All I know is it is really cool looking in the dark :) It looks WAY better in real life, just like the traffic lights do! Me happy so far. On to the next two and at some point install decoder. Might wait till tomorrow on it. Who knows?

    IMG_2576.jpg

Watching it go around the track from my desk chair while I type, and it is totally cool!

Me thinks I need to try and get the diffuser closer to the light? That might be what is causing the Bright light on the back end? Work in progress.

You did it correctly. The picture lies a little as it's not that bad in real life. Yes, one side is brighter, the side where the LED sits. I have all of my Operation North Pole lit and they are all like this.

    Good job! (y)

(Now why is that CXS pulling that Amtrak coach??? :ROFLMAO:)

How in the double hockey sticks do you add the Color Diffuser things? Did you install them? Talk about tiny, been wrestling with these things for over and hour. Surprised I haven't lost them yet. Moving on and putting them back in the package for another day :)

    IMG_2579.jpg

How this guy got them on in this video is beyond me. He doesn't show that part! Trying to make my own video of the process :)

This is his video, thank goodness for this one!

Cause I'm scared to install the Amtrak P42 decoder at this time :) I thought this would be easier? I might have been wrong. Kapton tape, Kapton tape, don't forget it :)

That's why the ES44DC is pulling the cars...Ooops, somehow me make a mistake and the entire, I think Sleeper car, I think, came apart! Time for a late dinner break. And maybe a movie :)

    IMG_2580.jpg

For sure a break is needed. I'll continue later or tomorrow. Can't even get the picture to upload right :)

I know way more about the Sleeper, I think that is what it is called, then I wanted too. Now to see if I can put it back together correctly? Learning way more then I planning on. :)

Yeah, I think success. Might have to reopen the Sleeper again at some point. But not anytime soon, unless it stops working? Which is possible. Not sure if I did that one correctly?

Well, well, well, besides needing to look at the sleeper again in the future. Turns out the Amtrak P42 is not working properly, what a bummer. It's early in the morning and I'm tired so it could be something I need to check further. At first the lights would some on, but no movement at all. After opening it back up, and one removing the huge piece of Kapton tape that was covering the entire board, it worked for a moment then stopped again. So opened it up again, and thought I had found the issue with alignment of the tabs. It ran for a bit and then stopped again. First few times I could reset the NCE PowerCab with a reboot, but that no longer works. What a bummer and I love this thing, when it is running, which was not very long at all.

We will see what later today brings with it. Like I said, could be something I am missing?

Me sad :( Cause it is awesome, when it runs :) Welcome to DCC!

    IMG_2586.jpg

Looks cool, just won't run at all or properly, yet!

Yes, I think we are good now. Been running for over an hour, and it is really nice. Lot's to still do such as program it to #203, learn how to program the lighting effects, etc... It's really, really nice!

    For @MK and others!

Thanks, so the last car supposedly the Sleeper car, it's blinking. And I couldn't get that diffuser to lock into the top of the car. It's also possible I have a bad bulb as there is a tiny spring thingy that doesn't appear correct on that bulb part. Might have to contact the Fruit Etailer about it? Also, did you ever get those Orange colored thingy's on yours? I am thinking they might diffuse the light a bit. No way I am not going to lose those if I try to install them. And the second car I need to adjust as I didn't put it back together properly it appears and not rolling smooth.

I am surprised I like them so much! Just might have to buy more in the future. Are there single cars the same size you can buy to add to it?

I know I am going to regret this but it's like the Energizer Bunny, it keeps going, and going...now I am screwed! Say good things and bad things happen :)

    Thanks!

One thing to remember about the Kato light kits. They are pretty much (almost) goof proof. After you install them and you get the blinkies, either your tracks are dirty or your wheels are dirty or both. In your example, since only the last car blinks, it's probably your installation. Since they are new I doubt the wheels are dirty. The first two cars prove it's not (their) wheels or tracks.

No, I did not install the amber filter pieces. Not that I didn't want to bother with something so small but rather I like the lights as is.

Finally, should you go down this rabbit hole ( :) ), you can save some money and buy the 5-pack instead of one at a time.

What 5 pack :) This was a three pack, will there be duplicates. Someone is already wanting another P42 Midnight Blue 50th. Luckily the retailer is out of the decoders for them :) Or was, I'm afraid to look!

Yeah I need to check a few of the cars and also the Sleeper for sure. Feel fairly confident it is on me?

I meant the LED light kit, not the Amtrak coaches. :D

Actually I double checked and it's a 6-pack. Typical price is $9/single pack or $46/pack of six (comes in one box). Search for Kato #11212

Ordered some more RPS vehicles. I'm addicted, and I just can't help it with the Bundle prices :) Maybe stocking stuffers for people that don't even know what they are, just kidding! Nobody stuffs my stocking's :)
