Looked into adding lights in my passenger cars. Some DCC decoder makers sell light or sound only decoders designed for controlling eg lights in a piece of rolling stock fitted with a wheel-track pickup system. Under DCC, the light(s) can be controlled by throttle which can be wireless eg Engine Driver...on android phones, tablets.

Messing around with the 99 cent 2mm foam sheets I got at Hobby Lobby some time ago. It's cheap and been fun to try different things!

I seem to recall an article in a model rail magazine from long ago where a fellow custom cut the bases under all of his structures so that they could be easily removed and swapped out for others. He said it made it much easier to keep his layout free of dust, and it kept the layout fresh and interesting. He could also change eras if he wanted.

How do you get two general aviation aircraft in your backyard? Pick them up with your fingers and set them down :) A little imagination doesn't hurt. Hey it's a mansion, they are rich :)

In rural areas, it's not unusual to borrow the county road if a runway isn't readily available... Besides, it's kinda hard for you to get pulled over once you are airborne. ;)

Ya gotta land somewhere, sometime! And if you want to take off again from there, you're gonna have to land there first.

In this shot from 1980 you can see the airstrip I had on my N Scale layout. Ha ha, I see that I even added skid marks where the landing gear touched down. The railroad placed a catenary pole at the end of the runway just for the fun of it. I had two aircraft, both Airfix models maybe? The second photo shows them, a Huey UH-1 and what may have been in RAF plane with parasol wing and wheel spats, both gone today. Layout is long, long gone.

Well they might not "Pull You Over", but they will get you down one way or the other. Can you say AH64D helicopter. :) Or an A-10 Warthog, my favorite military aircraft, Brrrrrrrrrrr, sound of the Canon Gun :) Check YouTube, if you don't know what I mean by that famous sound :) I have it in DCS World and it is awesome... and I have the AH64D also, and some others.

Yeah I don't think I have room on this module but maybe on the second one, which I rarely put up :) I like the idea of a grass runway, I like it a lot :) For now they will sit in the backyard and how they got there is a mystery for now :) But I do like them there for now.

Well, at least the local sheriff probably can't... I think my county's traffic cops don't have warthogs, although I never did check...

Maybe that's what they mean by those speed limit signs that say "Enforced by aircraft."

However, using roads as a nonemergency runway it is definitely legal in some places, it's mainly governed by local laws from what I understand.

Yeah I went a little overboard, don't you think :) Sounds cool about the places where it is actually legal. Pretty sure they know the rules and laws of the area? Maybe crop dusters and such?

Quick video of my new Kato SD70ACe's Montana Rail Link and MRL rolling stock. Really like it all. Video is not great but should post a better one in the future. Have to try and find the same loads as the one MRL flat car came with. Really like the color scheme especially the Blue & White stripes on the front of the locomotives. Looks better without the FLASH ON, kind of a deep blue color, very nice, same with the rolling stock.

Yeah me too, after looking forever for them found the pipe loads on eBay and they are from Micro Trains, and look exactly the same as what came with my one, flat car. Also, realized by mistake that the NEW Micro Trains flat cars that came with the wood loads fit's them, as well as my new MRL flat cars. A bonus so to speak :)

I took your advice and taking off from street right next to mansion :) Thanks for the idea. Not a country road, but my layout. Need to add my Sheriff truck to the scene :) It's going to be a tight takeoff with a gas station right down the street :)

Got the extra module put up temporarily and running some trains on the 2 modules for a change. Me like it, and having fun. Very long video and you think I was drunk taking the video, but I was drinking coffee as usual. Yes, the second module is a mess for now, but it works.
It's cool cause I can go into the inner 9 3/4" track and back out again. It's all about the fun for me :)
