According to their app the local Michael’s has the mini dots in stock. The larger ones might be useful in joining panels together but I’m going to try the mini dots that you have. It’s $4.99 for a pack of 252 dots, a lifetime supply. :)

I painted the riverbed navy blue. I’m waiting for it to dry. I might give it a second coat.

Been very impressed with what you guys have done. Is there a spec on the wave height or what would you estimate it to be?

I would consider them ripples instead of waves. And I have no clue, but tiny and noticeable as you can see in all the photos. Nobody is going surfing on the JTT Still Water, just saying :)

I agree, they are ripples or small swells. They look to be about 1/32” high. It looks like wind effect or slow moving water.

This is the riverbed painted navy blue.

I went to Michael’s this afternoon. They didn’t have the dots that @in2tech has but I found these dots from Aileen’s.

    IMG_2654.jpeg

I gave them a try and I’m not happy with the results.

I’m going to pry the 2 panels up and use Mod Podge to make water. I’ll have to apply another coat of navy blue before the Mod Podge.

The glue dots won’t go to waste. I’ll use them for the remaining grass mats.

Are you saying you are NOT going to use the water panels but instead use Mod Podge in it's place?

Yes, I’m going to use Mod Podge for the river. I’ll use some of the panels to make some lakes. Florida has lots of lakes and retention ponds so I’ll be able to use some of the panels.

@country joe Sorry the panels and dots did not work out for you on this project :( I am curious now about the Mod Podge. Never used it before.

Thanks in2tech. Mod Podge is easy to use but it takes time. I did a search for larger plastic water and found this roll from Noch. It’s slightly larger than 10”x16”. The dimensions are given in cm. I converted them into inches but don’t remember the exact size. It would be great for creating a larger body of water.

I just noticed that I’ve been spelling Aleene’s wrong for many years. I’ve been writing Aileen’s rather than Aleene’s. I never looked that closely and wrote it the way I thought it should be spelled. Duh.

This must be thinner then the JTT items as it's in a roll. If I ever order from someone that carries it, I'll try it just to see what it is like :) Might never happen. Now I am curious :) Maybe my local hobby shop has it? If you find a 24" x 48" brand I can just make one big water feature :) Just kidding of course, or am I?

I am also curious about the Noch water but I don't have any use for it. I have enough JTT panels left over to make a few lakes, probably more than I can use right now. I'll save it just in case I build another T-Trak module or some other project.

I gave the riverbed a second coat of navy blue and it's looking good. Tomorrow I'll give it it's first coat of Mod Podge. I'll apply 2 or 3 coats of Mod Podge and then stipple on a final layout to create swells.

    Really like the navy...

The reason I asked about the wave height is that when the item is searched, MRC sells the JTT sheets with 3mm waves but they are bigger sheets - 12 x 7.5 vs the 7.5 x 5.5 size at HobbyLobby. Fewer seams with larger sheet. My modeling skills are novice so the larger sheet(s) can work better as long as their waves are not too high. 3mm a little under 1/8" (1.5' n scale) wave.

The JTT website shows same item, part number and the 12 x 7.5 sheet size too, calling it n scale and rated 0.3mm wavelength? A typo or rating the sheet differently???. The JTT site indicates .5mm total thickness??

Wondering if the smaller HobbyLobby version is the same except for the 7.5 x 5.5 size??

    At 41cm x 26cm or 16.125" x 10.25, that's a winner Joe!

The 3mm has to be a typo. 0.5mm thickness sounds right. It looks like the only difference between the sheets sold by MRC and Hobby Lobby is the size of the sheet.

So it seems that Noch sells a Clear and Blue sheet that size on Trainworld. I still think I would prefer the Clear so I can add any color I like underneath it? Trying to see if I can find enough on there to warrant an order for the shipping price. Whatever that will be? I don't need it at all, but I want to see how it is for all of us. Not sure when or if I'll place an order, but I am trying :) Likes it's hard to find train and layout stuff to buy :)

Can you guys verify the size in inches for me for the Noch Water? Any ideas on the correct thickness? I just want to make sure it is that size.

@country joe how wide and deep is your lake, stream, etc... Just curious! If you don't mind me asking?

As @Mark Ricci said above the sheet is 26cm x 41cm (10.25” x 16.125”). I couldn’t find any info about the thickness of the sheet but it looks pretty much the same as the JTT sheets. I think it’s a different plastic formula that makes it flexible.

My river is 9.8” wide at the back, 6.3” wide at the front and narrower at the middle. It’s 1/2” below the track. This picture makes it look like it’s wider at the front but that’s just the perspective of the photo. It’s 30” from the front to the back.
