According to Noch product info, the height is 0.3mm... Same as wavelength spec as the JST sheet though the JST sheets looked hard to cut? Wondering if it flattens easily since its sold in a roll.
It's not really hard to cut with small Scizzors, just have to be careful. The JTT is definitely for small projects like mine. Or a pond, fishing hole, etc... Can't wait to see the Mod Podge results We all learn from each other. So far I can't find anything else I want from Trainworld, so no Noch water for me at this time. I will look at my local hobby shop, but don't think they will carry it?
Maybe you can order it through your local train store. If so, it will just be part of their normal delivery and you won’t have to pay for shipping.
I am not sure if this option was mentioned before in this thread, but I found it very easy and fun to make water & waves with plain tp and woodglue. I was pleasantly surprised with the result, and it might work for you as well, Joe: https://www.trainboard.com/highball...d-something-artitec-river-tug-7220021.155370/ Matt
Thanks for the suggestion, Matt. It looks like it’s easy to do and looks great. I already started with Mod Podge but I’d like to try the tp and glue method at some point.
My N scale world is green! The grass mats are done. The Mod Podge is applied to the river and drying. I placed a few palm trees to give the photo some Florida ambiance but I see one fell down.
Grass mats really look good. How long till the Mod Podge is dry? Also looks great! Is it ONLY Mod Podge?
Thanks in2tech, the grass mats make a huge improvement and are a good base for future scenic improvements. The river is only Mod Podge. The bottom is pink foam painted navy blue. I brushed on a couple coats of MP Gloss and then poured a layer. I poured it last Saturday so it’s been 1 week. I am pretty sure it will dry completely clear and glossy sometime this week. My one concern is under the bridge in the back. I started using an old jar of MP that I’ve had for 6 or more years. It looked fine but apparently it changes as it ages. From that bridge to the front bridge is from the jar of MP I just bought. The new MP is white while the older MP is off white and drying much slower. I think it will dry clear but if I ever do MP water again I’ll use fresh MP.
I think I said it before but it's amazing what a change in the color from pink foam to green can do for how we see things. Keep up the great work Joe!
Joe, The grass mats and river look great! How many grass mats did you use and what was the approximate total cost? - Tonkphilip
I used 9 25”x33” mats. The full price on them is $12.99 each but I had $15 in vouchers and a 30% off the entire purchase coupon so the total was about $70 before tax. Hobby Lobby has 34”x50” grass mats for $7.99 each, a much better price, but I don’t have a Hobby Lobby near me. I could have used only 5 of the bigger mats. That would have been only $40.
Joe, Thank you, that sounds like a reasonable price and it makes a big difference to the layout appearance. - Tonkphilip Quote:“I could have used only 5 of the bigger mats. That would have been only $40 [QUOTE="country joe]
I like your WS Moonlight Motor Court built-ups! I didn't realize they come with the scenic base; GTK.
When I saw the motor court at my local train store I had to get it. I’m going to take the cabins and office off the base and arrange them so they are less crowded. Base gives me a good idea of how to arrange them but with a bit more separation between them.
