Test drove one of the new snoots on saturday at my local hobby shop. Ran great look pretty good except for the walkways on the ATSF units. They're yellow, they should be blue. Let us know what everyone else thinks.

An entrepreneur on e-bay has a $100 [IMG] bid for one. Are they really worth that?

    Hi again,

    A few questions

Is it still UNION PAC IF IC, and are there any other dumb errors? Also, is there any general problems, as I have been bracing for them to make some mistake that only a blind cat could make.

    No offence intended to CATT!

    Happy Railroading!

PS-I want some in Canada, I hate hearing 'bout new stuff and not being able to get hold of it [IMG]

I have 2 BNSF snoots on order a little strange for a guy who models UP but I wanted some through traffic running on my layout. I'll let you know what I think of the locos when they arrive in the land downunder

I had ordered a Santa Fe and a BNSF unit each. I was informed the Santa Fe was a no-go, sold out already. [IMG] (Damn limited runs!) Now I understand that the SF/BNSF snoots are the wrong body anyway. [IMG] The snoot's too short and it's supposed to have anti-climbers, which the Kato model doesn't! [IMG] If they're going to do a model, I wish they'd do it right! [IMG]

This may sound dumb but maybe if we boycott them or make a big enough fuss about it they will change.

    Brent,

Kato did it right for the -2 'snoot'... right for a particular order that went to UP only...
More were built wih anti-climbers, though. t does make you wonder...

I'm not much of a "body cutter" and I really don't want to layout a bunch of cabbage for something that isn't right. [IMG] I'll get my BNSF unit, but the SF can wait until they get it right, or I have the time and inclination to fix it myself. [IMG]

Alan has a good point, as uassual, that it is one more loco. They can't make it correct for every one, although withh that said they could work on the paint..

Anyway. I too like to detail my loco's, but adding the correct nose length and an anti-climber is a little more than I'm willing to do. That was Kato's job, not mine. If they are going to do "many different phases" of the SD40-2, then they could of waited to do the 128"? nose later and release it in BNSF or SF at that time. What do these guys think we are? [IMG] Did they really think we wouldn't notice THIS mistake? We've caught and complained about all the others, why would they think we would miss this one? [IMG]

Hurrah! My hobby dealer called last night to let me know that my snoots are in [IMG]. By the way Alan my Peco code 55 flex track and Electrofrog turnouts have arrived. Peco puts out a nice product, but then you know that [IMG]. I have almost decided on the switch motors I will use with the points. I say almost because I have bought one Switch Master and one Circuitron Tortoise slow motion switch machine. Some of the DCC folks prefer the Switch Master, but I'm one of those that has to bump my own head at times. I am told that both will do the job just fine but is a bit easier to setup the Switch Master with DCC. I want to do a mockup of both with the points for I need to learn how to interface the machines with the turnouts anyway.

How is the painting on the BNSF H I's. In a photo I saw it looked like the top of the cab was the dark green like the rest of the body?????? That's not prototypical is it??

    Thanks...........Craig
