For ballast I use "Fonolith" from a dealer in Belgium. jeweha-modelbouw The sand for the streets is also from JEWEHA, but I've used sand from our grand daughter's sandpit. Yes, I will install working switch stands, for now there's only one. I'm busy with structures. Coal dealer, lumber yard, station. Wolfgang
Thank you, Mike. Now I've scratch built a coal house for Salina's coal dealer. I saw this in the web, but with postage to Germany it would be too expensive. And - scratch building is fun! The coal dealer in Salina will also sell oil. Any suggestions for this - small - structure, next to the coal house for one tank car? Wolfgang
Mixed train Here's another video, a mixed on the way from Fiddletown to Silver Creek. Extra 462 east Enjoy it Wolfgang
First step for the wreck and help train, I've finished the Grandt Line kit wheel and tie car. Wolfgang
Another car left the shop and went into service. Also a Grandt Line, kit # 5186. I've managed with lots of lead to push the weight to 35 g (1.2 oz). That's 54% of the NMRA weight. Wolfgang
If you keep building at this pace, you will have as much rolling stock as the Westport Terminal. Nice weathering on the last two cars.
Will that be sufficient to keep derailing troubles away? Or possibly need to be careful with placement in a train? Or will you need to add a load for more weight? Boxcab E50
Nice work . I remember when I was in HOn3 I usually left the cars un weighted. IE they weighed whatever the kit weighed after I built it. Usually did not have any problems. Mostly I could never figure out WHERE to add weight on stuff like flats. I bet you're cars run a bit better with the extra weight though. What kind of trucks are you using? I almost always used the old Central Valleys with the springs......Mike
Fiddletown has now four segments. Each segment is 70 cm (2' 4'') long. You can build it with 2, 3 and all 4 segments. You see the car card holder between the tracks. Those are a good idea when you make up your trains. I want to add some basic scenery like ballast and weeds to have this segment ready for operation. Wolfgang
