Yes. I remember. Just wondering where the project was by now. Sounds like it is a lower priority effort, being worked on as a few free minutes allow.
Not me, I think those are only crew members. We went as far as Whitaker where we stopped and got off before heading back down the mountain.
The caboose was freshly painted here at FreightCar America's shop. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
I'll be there with three tables to show the ships. Please stop by and introduce yourself! I love meeting TB members at shows. Got some new stuff, including the Edna G., and some show discounts for everything, including display models. Yes, all of the display models are for sale this year--save 15% off regular price PLUS save on shipping if you take it with you--which could be $300 or more for a large ship.
I'm very excited about the Swap O Rama and the public show. If anyone knows where I can find three ESU LockSound Select decoders for 4-driven axles, and a Heritage LL 2-8-4 Berkshire for lower than $225, please let me know!
There is an N scale prototype for this. See it even has the NSE logo on it. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
This really looks great but they put the wrong class type on the cab. Its a C32P not a C31P. The C32Ps have the centered cupola and middle window while the C31P's cupola was offset, like on the Atlas model. They also had two separate windows towards each end. One thing for sure... this is definitely a beauty!!!
I think that's what NS is up to. Recently they painted a caboose back into Conrail colors and is in service in Cleveland, I think. The blue N&W logo does look a little funny on a red caboose but it still is neat!
The caboose rebuilds are for long shoves. Unfortunately I cannot remember how many are being rebuilt, but any shove that is more than a mile (I think that is what our tour guide said) requires a caboose for safety reasons, so the railroad employee does not have to ride hanging onto the side a car. Carter Edit: Talked to my wife, and the reference to 1 mile was the frequency in which a switch may be encountered during a shove. There was a mention of a shove 8 miles long somewhere on the system, but I don't know how long the shove needs to be in order for NS to require a caboose.
The branch I live near requires a shove of about 1,500 feet. The only branch on the system I could think of that's 8 miles has to be on the Pocahontas Division. I'm not quite sure but I would think it would be on one of the ex-N&W branches here in Kentucky. I've studied them on Google and Bing Maps and some of those are so remote they seem to go to the middle of nowhere!
Been running into a number of Trainboard folks here in Roanoke, probably more than I know as their forum name is not the same as their registered name. I dragged Caddy58 out yesterday morning for some rail fanning around town and almost caused him to miss his afternoon tour. Oh well got him back with seconds to spare. Found a lot of stuff I wanted at the vender show today. Wish I could afford to buy it all. Alas, I had to be a good boy and be selective.
BN used to make a shove of three miles, on a branch, (now gone), where I used to reside. Started from the town where I lived, and out to end of track.
Well, other than the Kato 4-8-4 F-E-F so far I have only heard is some new Digitrax decoder and Fox Valley two bay hoppers.. Will learn more Sunday morning at the breakfast. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
