My turn, with a nod to a slightly lesser past: MoPac GP38-2, GP50, U23B, GP18 and an interloping BN GP38.
Here are some shots of my 3 Northern Pacific U25C's assing the depot at Kalama. Also is a shot of my GN SD-9's at the yard in Centralia.
Here is a lashup I ran yesterday, the Tex Mex loco on the lead was brought by Flash Blackman who was here for a visit.
11 -9's & 2 4400's but thanks to Tim Mc that has just grown to 14 -9's,although one (CNW -9)is going to Sten.I've painted 4 of the SP units so far with two more AC4400's in the SP paint shop, these would have to be one of my favourite loco's. It's amazing to watch this unit train going up & down 2% grades with DPU's & helpers,it's the next best thing to being there I guess.
If you modeled the modern Mofat Route, you'd need literally dozens of ACeez... I now have 52 of those MDC gons, just waiting be be hauled on a large layout.... Well, once I get the trucks and couplers converted to MT... I also just got decals for my unnumbered TM's, and a Geep 40 awaiting Grande lettering... Look in the Aspen Gold thread for some new material soon!
270 odd ACeez in fact plus another 120 odd -9's lol,Sandro would nearly be there with those numbers. I can show you a cheaper way to run those MDC gon's. Did IM do un-numbered DRGW TM's? & I take it your doing the large DRGW herald for the '40?
Wow !!! this is probably the nicest thread of all . You cannot get better pictures in any model railroad magazine . Here is some from my layout : This one for my friend Greg ( SOO ) in Texas :
I plan on drawbars, but need time to do them. As for the TM's, yes, I bought the last 2 WigWag had at the time, and for the Geep40, no, small Grande lettering, #3080.
Guys, here's a multi-unit lashup of the Santa Fe Erie-Builts A-B-A. Santa Fe only bought one set of Fairbanks-Morse Erie-Builts, ordered in early 1946 but not delivered (due to a ugly labor strike at FM) until May 1947. By then, the single FM Erie-Built set had an unwinnable uphill battle to survive against the onslaught of passenger EMD F3s, F7s, and Alco PA-1s being delivered. Numbered "90L - 90A - 90B", the FM Erie-Builts were not successful on Santa Fe's long transcontinental passenger train runs (pictured above in a fictious desert site near Cajon Pass), and by the early 1950s were relegated to secondary trains like the Grand Canyon. By the mid-1950s they were in the LA-San Diego pool; by the late 1950s these one-of-a-kind-on-the-Santa-Fe locomotives were always near a repair base in Kansas City/Argentine, on local Kansas passenger trains like the "Oil Flyer" and the "Tulsan". They left the roster in 1963, scrapped with some parts being re-used by GE in three of Santa Fe's order of sixteen U25Bs.
Thanks Loco, errm I haven't looked for awhile,I suppose you could do a search around. You should be able to find some around though, just two weeks ago a member came in & handed me a box, which contained 84 of these hoppers with M/T's,I couldnt say no so that brings my total up to 200 odd hoppers
Thanx Louis! Love the CN switchers and the CN van. Great pics guys, just amazing what members can do when their heads are put to it. Well I might do some more scenery, or prepare to disassemble the layout for storage or selling, Adios Wyt
Hey Greg , why do you have to dismantle or selling ??? Don't tell me you will quit "N" ? Are you moving ?
Here is a lashup of 3 rio Grande GP60's and a SP GP60, these units are very impressive and run flawlessly.
Sorry to be a bit off topic Paul, but would you have a track layout diagram of your layout? You've got some excellent pictures so I was wondering what the layout looked like. Thanks Joe
