1880 Town - Murdo, SD Northern Pacific Stock Car 83145 Northern Pacific Stock Car 82710 Another unmarked caboose. Ben
Nice stuff Ben! The caboose with the pointed cupola I believe is an old Milwaukee Road, and the last one looks to be a Burlington Route type caboose, maybe? No doubt that switchstand is MILW, too! When looking at older rolling stock, I look at the trucks to see previous owners reporting marks, cause they used to weld the RR name and number on them. Keep the pics coming!!:teeth:
Wall, SD We pulled in to Wall, SD and I took a couple of shots. I still have more photos to upload. Stay tuned... Ben
Thanks! I will have to make it a point to look at the trucks. One really doesn't realize how many pictures that they have taken until it comes time to post them. Ben
And be carefull in Wall, the locals like to put "Wall Drug" bumper stickers on your car! Just ask my Dad!!:teeth:
Man... I was just through this area in June when we went to Mt. Rushmore. Stopped at Wall Drug, but didn't stop at the 1880's town or the car museum. I wish now that I had!
We managed to get in and out of there without any bumper stickers. Thanks for the warning though! We were not going to stop at 1880's town but I convinced the family that it might be fun. I definitely would encourage you to stop at both of these locations if you have the opportunity to go back through that area. Ben
Rapid City, SD I managed to bag a few shots in Rapid City as well. We caught this train just as it came to a stop on our way to Mt. Rushmore. As you can see we made it back in time to catch a few shots before dark. Ben
It did have a distinct MILW body line to it. Thanks for giving it a name! Oh, to see the view thru those windows while rolling in Sixteen Mile Canyon! This is a neat thread, ben! Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome! Later in the trip we drove through part of Montana. I'll share a few MRL shots with you soon. Ben
