The module is going to be wonderful [IMG] Progress pictures are interesting and helpful to other layout builders. Should be a good project to watch developing [IMG]

Ok people, progress has been delayed for at least a month :(
Yesterday I went to my hobby shop for the last time and they still didn't had the Woodland Scenics kit. I also ordered a Marklin Z Turntable to make a little progress on the main module.

There are a few things left to do, finish the tracks on the module and solder them at the end.
Very soon I'll be on vacation. I'll take some Ztracks and a bunch of paper with me to sketch some ideas. Hopefully my hobby shop does have the kit when I get back so I can continue on the module.

    Incredible!!
Just remember to somehow build extra room under that impressive structure, so ballasting, cork, and other stuff doesn't raise the track too much.
Were the proto photos from Maria's Pass?

    Woah thanks guys! :D

I layed MT track through the shed, the double stacks fit really well, they have about 2mm clearance just as I calculated ;)

I'm came back from vacation some days ago. I had a great time in the sun and a lot of time to brainstorm, with the Z-battery completely refreshed it's time to work on the modules again!

I was still busy with the snow shed module, trains can run on it now! I added the bridge and soldered the tracks in place at the end of the module.

I'm glad everything worked out nicely with miner setbacks. Even the soldering went perfect! I didn't expect that! :D

Tomorrow I want to complete the second end module as far as the snow shed module so I can finally run some trains around, I haven't ran a single Z train in more then a year!

Btw: Could someone PLEASE answer the "GS4 wheelbase" question cause I'm stuk at planning now :(

I think Rob Kluz is on vacation, and is the only Trainboard member who has a GS4. I will email your question to a friend in Oregon who has one.

Yes, it's module season again. School has started already at several schools out here, and within 2 weeks everyone will be back at school. That means my favorite time of year is back upon us... Train Season!

Most Awesome! I really like what you have done. I too share in the "I can't wait to see what it looks like with all the trees and scenery added!" Keep up the good work!

Nice to see you here Tim [IMG]

My hobbyshop seems to be hopeless. They still haven't recieved my orders. I can't wait to putt my hands on that Woodland Scenics kit!

Does someone have any idea where Eric Menzel aka Mythman is? I bet he's playing with his CNC mill ;) I tried to contact him because I want to order some switches for the second module but I get no response.

I'm going to visit a shop tomorrow which might have the ground foam I need for the modules, I really hope they do because I've had so many delays allready :(

I bought 2 DVD's to kill some time [IMG]

20th Anniversary Daylight Combo (DVD video)

Big Boy Combo DVD Part 1 (DVD video)

They're both from Pentrex and absolutely awesome! I seen very small portions of video about the Daylight before and this DVD really filled my needs [IMG]
I never seen a Big Boy run and I was completely startled when I started the DVD! It's an impressive engine for sure!!

[update]I visited the store today for ground foam and it wasn't the stuff I was looking for. Earlier on I did find a store that had very dense foam, I hope to visit in again on friday to get a large piece.

    I've been busy! :D

    End module 1
    [IMG]

As you can see, the side panels are attached and I've started experimenting with my ground foam. When all pieces of foam are in place they will be finished with a thin layer of plaster.

    End module 2
    [IMG]

The side panels are attached. The track base still has to be lifted up. I'm going to lay track as soon as Mythman (E & D Models) send my switches [IMG]

I also recieved my practise kit from woodland scenics and everything is much clearer now on how I'm going to add scenery. Anyone knows good pine trees I could use on top of my mountain? I need a few hundred... :D

Woah, I got a lot of things to do!

About the pine trees, I'm looking into making these myself. If it's an easy process then I'm more then happy to try out [IMG] Theres an article about trees in the N Scale Railroading Magazine - May/June 2005 issue so I'm trying to backorder the issue.

I raised the trackbase at the second end module, it's a pretty steep grade! about 2,7%...I'm praying 3 loco's will be enough for 28 gunderson husky stack wagons! What if they start to slip, I might have to rebuild the module... :(

The first end module has the largest foam pieces in place! It's starting to look like something [IMG] glue'ing the foam on the wood works perfect with the gluegun. I need to paint the rails and glue the shed down on the base, at the same time I have to balast the track inside the shed, this is going to be interesting [IMG] I'll post pictures of the process asap.

Dont worry, Rob could always sell you another engine, then you should have no problem making the grade.

Hey, try out the Heki line of tree's. [IMG] I bought a box of 100 for only $15 bucks at my local HobbyShop! They vary in size from 1/2 inch too 2 inches tall and look good. That has been the best bargain I've found so far.

I bought 3 boxes of the Heki trees when Walthers had them on sale last year. I have only used a few so far. I found I like hem better with some Woodland Scenics ground foam sprinkled on top to give a nice color enhancement.

I have used Aqua Net hairspray with good results to get the ground foam to stick, then seal with another coat of the hairspray.

    Robert,

I agree. I also use the Heki trees and Aqua net hairspray to adhere the ground foam. I actually fill a large cup with the foam. I then use a long pair of scissors to hold the tree and spray. I drop the tree into the cup and shake. I then use the scissors to remove the tree. I tap the scissors onto the side of the cup to remove the loose foam. It is easy and fast and I can 10-20 trees in no time.

The Heki trees look good imo. You guys convinced me ;)

I'll order a box online (got one for $25 from eBay, not bad eh? ;) ), and look for them on Eurospoor 2005 as well, the largest model railway event in Europe is starting friday next week. Manfred Jörger will be there!!! Can't wait to see his modules in real life :D I heard it's about 22 meters in totall!
