I have one in my junk box without the finger print on the tire and in original paint. Part of a set of junk autos that you put way, way, way, in the background and cover with weeds and junk. Paid $3 less than the price of that crap for the whole set.
Which is why I keep those two 'lives' separate... or at least I try to. Various blocking add-ons help this quite a bit.
Ah, here's something I haven't seen before.... a Santa Fe 0-2-0.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Atl...307659?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4632ff5f8b And if you need 'chuckle #2' take a good look at the lettering. This resulted in an unfortunate cleanup accident at the computer..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/n-scale-Bra...066?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae462b532 Love the paint job. Looks like HO decals.
I agree about the decals. They do look HO scale. Description is quite humorous: "...and looks awesome". Uh, no. Sounds like a used car saleman's pitch. It actually looks downright silly.
The funny thing is that I actually typed 0-5-0 here on TB just recently when asking a question about my 0-6-0 and caught it just seconds before the edit timed out.
The worst part is..... lets say you get the 0-2-0, only to discover that there's no wheels on the right side - just axles. there's only one photo, remember. You want your money back, only to find out that the item was properly described. You 'assume' there have to be wheels on the right side.... wrongo! Don't laugh. I got Kato C-30 mechanism with a crappy, dark photo only to find out it didn't come with trucks. Took the photo into photoshop and lightened it.... yup, no trucks under there. Damn. Never occurred to me that could happen.
MADE in the country of Mantua. Where is that (LOL) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Locomotive-...828?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19fb984164 looks like HO
Hmmmm.... Ask much as I want to model something like this: why would you letter it for Alaska RR? http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-MTL-ARR-A...536?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d2d6d5848
I've seen them. "On the Railbelt, several of the major utilities are examining wind power as a way to diversify future sources of energy and hedge against rising natural gas prices Utilities and independent producers have installed three wind projects to diversify the regions energy mix and provide a hedge against rising fossil fuel prices. Those projects are a 17.6 MW wind farm near Anchorage on Fire Island, Golden Valley Electric Association’s 24.6 MW Eva Creek wind farm near Healy, and a 1 MW wind farm near Delta Junction that is slated to nearly double its size in 2013. At the end of 2012, Alaska had a total installed wind capacity of 63.8 MW. - See more at: http://alaskarenewableenergy.org/why-renewable-energy-is-important/alaskas-resources/wind/#sthash.5zPKVwok.dpuf."
The Alaska Railroad "Alaska Train" flatcar is a stock Micro-Trains item (Catalog 071 00 080, February 2008).
Right next to Ikea? (No kidding, there are people who think that Ikea is a country. Those Ikeans, they just can't be trusted.)
I haven't traveled to Ikealand in a long time. Very strange people constantly wandering around, with a glazed look on their faces..
I guess I have to take that back then: They even have wind/solar powered crossing gates up there: https://www.google.ca/search?tbm=is...QCg&ved=0CBoQwg4oAA&biw=1280&bih=961#imgdii=_ What a lonely looking railroad crossing, though.
Yes and they are also toting blue bags occasionally and the yellow pencils, all of the short 5 inch variety, are issued at the port of entry. Class one felony there to lose your short yellow pencil. Not as bad as the Klingons though.
Thanks for the "Mantua" post.... enjoyed that. Sent it to a New Jersey associate that's not so sure it really isn't another country. Reminds me of a time when my firm was working with several indian tribes on a right-of-way. On a Sunday morning I announced to my wife that I had a project I was working on during the day with the Adiquindos. "Really??" "Where?". "Upstairs, of course". "Huh? They are coming HERE? Right to our house??". NO HONEY. I'M WORKING ON THE ATTIC WINDOWS.
