Yes. It's mandatory for everyone using their site. I wonder just how much they'd skim off, if you could sell your RV empire?
I'ld get a Paypal account and let feebay and paypal split 50% if I could find that one lucky bidder who would pay 50,000.00 for THERR
That's odd, because I've bought stuff from that guy, and found he was pretty decent with prices. I wonder what it is about that one car?
That's the EGATCO guy out of Las Vegas. After looking at his completed auctions, he hardly sells anything.
Actually, he's sold 527 items in the last 3 months. He gets his hands on quite a few interesting N scale items. stat: sold of unsold is 527 of 1,254 Most of his items are more reasonably priced (for my budget). I know this is a thread about the outliers but just because someone posts a high price on something, I don't judge them to be a bad person. With how ebay encourages relisting of so many items for free or almost free, it doesn't cost sellers to keep listing at unsellable prices. I think if you had to pay $1 to list, it would cut down on all the junk and uber-priced items.
A little bit harder for me to justify with the current exchange rate, but I did buy a bunch of things from him when NSC was doing all kinds of Milwaukee Road stuff for their convention back when the exchange rate was better.
I agree, Larry (Egatco) is "good people" and I've also purchased from him before. I suspect this might be a consignment of some sort where the "real" seller is providing the prices. The opening bids for the E&LS car and the Railbox car are (believe it or not) in line with the auction highs that I recall for both of the cars. This isn't the same situation as those where people who don't know any better are listing stuff that has been buried by Fido in the backyard for a few years as "rare, vintage" ad nauseum.
Saw this one and just had to share. http://www.ebay.com/itm/n-scale-Bra...597?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae4222405 The price ain't to bad but GAWD what is up with that paint scheme. Cyrus K. Holiday is rolling over in his grave and the Harvey Girls all quit. {CRINGE} He could afford a Brass locomotive but he couldn't even afford a proper set of decals? Oh, and where's the roof detail?
My mistake. I should have said Las Vegas metropolitan area. I wasn't implying that he was a bad guy at all. He has been around for years on E Bay. Many successful auctions. I remember when he refused to use Pay Pal. He must be optimistic that there is still a collectors market with that car. There are a couple of other sellers that list at collector prices. I have to laugh a little. More power to them if they can get people to pay those prices.
I recall many, any years ago a Lionel 726/736, bashed, bent, scratched....with a full 0 scale GN Billy Goat boxcar decal on the tender, folded over the top and bottom. Must be the same guy. Dave
Yes, but the n gauge crosses the USA twice! "The N scale has 2 opposite direction tracks running across the "USA" twice" How many scale thousands of miles is that?
This has to be the worst, most overpriced piece of junk layout and laughable auction in the history of eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Buil...204663?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3cf168a477 Someone already posted it! Bwahahahaha!
Out of curiosity, I looked at the "Stadiums" layout. Now eBay is going to tag me and repeatly post on my facebook page, "You still have a chance to win this!!!"
I'm betting the lister is seeing all of us watching and thinking there is actual interest. Sure gonna fool them, when it never sells and just sits rotting for years.
Check out this listing (rare?) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Vintag...677?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c4d946355
