This one is stunning, almost surreal. Here's a couple from over here, you probably won't be surprised that we have the occasional cloud. The setting sun paints the clouds pink here as 66526 passes Cockwood Harbour with empty cement tanks. I know we've already had a foggy one, here 59001's headlights burn through the morning mist at Westbury, as it drags it's stone train towards London.
Thanks, Mike. Great thread this has turned into. Keep posting your great pix, everyone! Mike, we stayed in Pahrump a week ago then drove through Red Rock Canyon (bypass, due to the fire). Man, I cannot believe the building going on in Vegas west of I-15. Little box houses about six feet apart. I know Vegas is the fastest growing city in the US, but wouldn't want to live in those. Also saw the freeway being built to improve traffic flow at Hoover dam. That will change the landscape considerably.
Nearly a perfect photograph To bad this SP Unit has so much grap on it, oh yes and it needs to be washed too to get the grime of it as well... oh5qn:oh5qn:oh5qn: Did I say that...
This unit was originally retired in 2001, but resurrected in 2003, part of what UP calls its "Surge Fleet". They apparently do the minimum amount of maintenance etc to keep it going until it finally gets sold/scrapped.
Flatonia means 'flat' what it is pronounced! Here's something not flat at all, Tunnel 7,a nd westbound coal empties:
Here is another I recently shot up in North Las Vegas, at UP's Valley yard...a trio of SD40-2's (previously posted on the UP board)
Neat stuff, all! When was the Geep 35 shot? BNSF paint leads me to think it's rebuilt, but still, it's a GP35, that's pretty cool! Tolland, CO--the only UP diesels fit to photograph are the new ones...
That was a year ago in Rosenberg, Texas. They keep two Geeps around to do the local run between Somerville and Alvin.
