Now that all the trackwork is done, I'm able to start on some scenery. I'll post photos as I can, album is located at: http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/8745 Still lots to do.
Layout is On30. Using benchwork from previous HO scale layout, so that saved a lot of time. All track is hand laid, something I always wanted to try.
Forgot to post this - did a short video of a short local passing through Phoenix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPLMUniAOvE
Wood ties are from Kappler. PC ties for switches (I use Fast Tracks jigs) are from Clover House. Nothing scratch built yet. At this time, only using kits.
With help from the wife, put up the backdrops on the next section - this is the lumber branch going back up in the hills. Really looking forward to getting some scenery done on this section. Photos at: http://s1381.photobucket.com/user/ClinchValley/library/Backdrops?sort=3&page=1
I love it! Did you take those photos for the background, (or are they paintings)? I need to find a service that can print some photos I have to use as background too.
Sorry, no. They are ready made from Trackside Scenery. http://www.tracksidescenery.com/index.php The guy that runs Trackside (Joey Ricard) is really a nice guy and I'm sure he'd be glad to help you out or steer you in the right direction. A good source to start with.
Getting started on the next section of scenery. This one will be interesting - it includes the switchback for the logging branch.
Going to use real dirt for ballast on the logging branch. Giving it a try to see how it works - so far so good
