Nice photos, Larry. What gauge are you using?

Layout is On30. Using benchwork from previous HO scale layout, so that saved a lot of time. All track is hand laid, something I always wanted to try.

Are you cutting your own ties? Or buying them ready made? Are the structures scratch built?

Wood ties are from Kappler. PC ties for switches (I use Fast Tracks jigs) are from Clover House.
Nothing scratch built yet. At this time, only using kits.

Nice choice! It really looks like far off in the hills.

I love it! Did you take those photos for the background, (or are they paintings)?
I need to find a service that can print some photos I have to use as background too. :)

Sorry, no. They are ready made from Trackside Scenery. http://www.tracksidescenery.com/index.php

The guy that runs Trackside (Joey Ricard) is really a nice guy and I'm sure he'd be glad to help you out or steer you in the right direction. A good source to start with.

I'm betting the suspension on that old truck is creaking and groaning!

Getting started on the next section of scenery. This one will be interesting - it includes the switchback for the logging branch.

Nice grass. Looks like a combination of static and other?

Yes, static grass and clump fibers. I like variations.

Going to use real dirt for ballast on the logging branch. Giving it a try to see how it works - so far so good
