Doofus, what was that loco before the "visiting railfans" picked over it? An AT&SF moment on the Sun-N-Sand. A Verne Niner shot without a copyright, which probably just means he wanted to distance himself from the two "crazies" peeking over the backdrop. 5 Zebras on 110 cars on the green line, BTW. More S-n-S: "Westbound out of Flagstaff, a Grand Canyon Special begins the climb toward Williams. Painted Desert has given way to Coconino Wilderness. Mt. Humphrey's 12,633 foot snow-capped summit towers over vast stands of White Aspen and Ponderosa Pine. There is not a cactus in sight." (Note to self: lose the Baboon effect on that tail car!) And one for PSG Bob - Santa Fe in the Red Rocks: Man, the colors are "off" on that one. There is a better one in my Webshots album if you want to see what that module really looks like. MESSAGE FROM MY ATTORNEY, BERNIE: "Mr Woods, given your questionable legal position within the N scale community as a known 'Arizona Outlaw', and given Mr. John Sing's equally questionable status, my client is careful not to create any evidence that would link his own dubious character with any known Arizona Outlaws. He is already in enough legal trouble with his shady April 1st dealings, which I probably should not have mentioned here. Therefore, he denies any specific knowledge or recollection of this photo." I can't believe what I pay this guy, for basically saying, 'Right, Bob!'
Verne - Wow, some awesome shots. Jerry, great work - good to have you back! Here's a shot I posted to the SP Moment thread, that works here also. . .
Cool photo from the Library of Congress web site. Santa Fe R.R. streamliner, the "Super Chief," being serviced at the depot, Albuquerque, NM.
Incredible photo, Russ, thanks for sharing! Here are some prototype photos taken on the Arizona Divide:
You are welcome. I find the details in the photo very interesting. This being early W.W.II and early days of diesel, the fueling from a tank car parked next to the train is great information to have if you model this era. The head light shroud on the locomotive. And the big mystery, what is the guy loading the white bundles on the baggage car standing on or in? A wheel barrow? A box or sack of dirty linen? Hey I don't know.
Russ: that's avery intriguing photo. The more you look at it, the more you see. Thanks for sharing.. Stay cool and run steam.....
Time for more Santa Fe... This set of F3s from IM look pretty good right out of the box, can't wait to see how they look after a little TLC!
A Dave Nenna / John Sing joint shot, taken on Dave's layout during John's visit during NMRA National Convention July 2005: Thx, Dave!
