Some excellent modeling going on here for sure. Always amazed and delighted to see what everyone is up to. Been working on this for the last few days, it was one of the last D&RGW wide vision cabooses in this paint scheme and really shows its age. Over the years things got kinda dirty and grimy. The LED's are battery powered with a slide switch on the bottom that will light either end of the caboose. They are not nearly as bright, must be the exposure time. I also lifted the cupola .080" as the stock Atlas cupola sits a little lower that what I wanted. Thanks for looking.
Tom you always do such nice modeling and this is right up there. I've got a wooden Frisco caboose waiting to be built and I would like to learn more about your battery and switch setup. My previous caboose used track power to illuminate the Tomar marker lamps but I like your idea better.
Thanks Guys for the comments. I built and painted this GP39M BN 2820 a number of years ago, The model is A P2K GP30, which are great models to work with. I was a Brakeman on this Road Switcher and took these photos of same prototype in Grand Junction CO in 1998. And here is my version of it, note the horn was installed backwards on the prototype. Thanks for stopping by.
Tom, any chance I can have you over to do my entire fleet? I have a spare bedroom, wife's a great cook....
The last thing my waistline needs is another good cook:blush:. But maybe we can make a deal. How many cars in your fleet? I have a 30' x 50' MRR you can paint the backdrops and finish the scenery.
Hi Tom, excellent work! I had to look close on the last three to tell it was a model. You captured the prototype well. thank you for sharing, dale
Over 400 cars and 100 locos; as for backdrops and scenery, the RGW has me pretty busy doing just that, but I'll consider it.
Tom, Great work on the Geep! I like the fact you took pictures of the model to match the proto pics you took in CO. JMS
Sounds good to me . As soon as I finish my 200 locos and 2500 cars will be glad to help you out my friend. BTW we just have pizza and beer at our build/op sessions. Probably why we dont get much done
Thanks John, I have tried to have photos of most of the models I have done. We were sitting in Glenwood Springs CO, in the West siding and it had been an all night trip, shortly after the sun came up, I noticed a BN SD40-2 with Silver (former ATSF) trucks under it. I have a bunch of pics but just dont care for the BNSF patching on it. So its BN w Silver trucks LOL. I will post pics soon.
Nice GP39M Years ago I built a GP39E, GP39V and GP39M but when I backdated my layout I foolishly sold them off, I did rather like the ex southern high nose GP30 rebuilds with the new cab, I have been very tempted to build one again!
